Hostel Chloe Jongno

For a hostel this is good value especially considering the location. The owner is very friendly and offered to help on many different occasions. For example when it started to rain he advised us where to collect an umbrella from so we dont get wet when go out. He also speaks a couple of different languages very well. The room itself was small but this is normal for seoul. We rebooked this hotel as it's location and price are great. I did see in another review someone said that there was a smell of fish. There's alot of restaurants very close by and a couple of them specialise in seafood so this could be the reason. There was one day were the smell was very overpowering at the lower levels of the hostel however going higher up it disappears.

Between Jonggak Station and Jongno 3-ga Station on Line 1, slightly closer to Jongno 3-ga. The area is across Jangno from Tapgol Park, in the busiest area of Jongno, with bars and restaurants, so you won't have any trouble finding a place to stay. City buses and airport limousines stop on Jongno Boulevard, so it's very accessible. The hotel's sign is hard to find, but the neon sign of HOTELMONG next door is the landmark, and behind that, the hotel is on the 3rd and 4th floors of the building. There is no elevator, but there is a cargo lift. There is no staff at the front desk, so it's best to let them know your check-in time in advance. I arrived late at night, so I was glad they could help me out. It feels like a spacious Goshiwon-style hotel, and the key is a card key and the power is also managed. The room is about 1 tatami mat in size, and is equipped with a shower, toilet, and sink, as well as shampoo and body soap. For one person, the bed is a semi-double size and spacious, there is a large TV, a hair dryer on the wall, and a dressing table. There is also a refrigerator in the stool (chest of drawers). It was summer, so I was right to ask for a room with an air conditioner in each room. Towels are changed every day, and they were clean and did not smell like other reviews said. The owner (? = staff?) only comes at check-out time, but he speaks Japanese and is very attentive. The windows are large for this type of accommodation, and the room is bright, but the curtains are not blackout, so I was woken up at dawn. I can't sleep in the morning, so it would be helpful if they could change the shades to blackout ones. The kitchen is only on the 4th floor, and the water server is only here, so it's a bit inconvenient.

This hostel is located very centrally in Seoul and can be found fairly easily down an alley way, near Jongno3sam metro station. The rooms are a little bit small, especially for someone my size (6ft3) but in terms of value for money, it was great. The rooms are clean and tidy, showers are warm, and you are provided with towels, shampoo and body wash. The hostel also offers laundry services. Thomas, the owner, is very friendly and helpful - he is a great host, particularly when we wanted to leave our bags at the hostel after check out. Overall, definitely recommend staying here.
