Koreana Hotel

We loved everything about our stay at Koreana hotel. The service was pleasant, hotel room was big, the location was so central and more that anything else the vibe of the hotel was amazing. We will surely come back to stay here!

We stayed in the Royal Suite for what was supposed to be a 9-day stay, but by the 4th night we decided to check out and move to another hotel. This was incredibly disappointing because this property was once considered one of Seoul's premier hotels. The location is excellent, and the Royal Suite itself is spacious and beautiful, but unfortunately it appears to be in desperate need of maintenance and updates. During our stay we experienced multiple issues: The air conditioning barely worked and would not cool the room below 78°F (26°C). It was extremely hot in Seoul during our visit, making the suite very uncomfortable. The hot water was unreliable. It was either scalding hot or completely cold, forcing us to take cold showers. The bed in the second bedroom was an odd in-between size—larger than a twin but smaller than a full—and was far too small for two adults. The mattresses were also exceptionally hard and uncomfortable. None of the electrical outlets in the living room worked, making it impossible to charge devices there. What frustrated us most wasn't the maintenance issues—it was how they were handled. We reported every issue to the front desk after the first night and specifically asked that they be addressed while we were out sightseeing the following day. I even stopped by the front desk again before leaving that morning to remind them. When we returned that evening, nothing had been repaired. The only thing that had changed was that several portable fans had been placed in the suite. When I asked what happened, the staff seemed unaware of the problems we had reported twice and wanted to send an engineer at 9:00 p.m., just as we were returning exhausted and ready for bed. We agreed to let them come the following day instead. Once again, I reminded the front desk as we left for the day. When we returned that evening, absolutely nothing had been fixed. We were again told they could send an engineer that night because they "didn't have a chance" during the day and had to have the front desk manager come to our room to show him that yes these things are not working, I wonder if maybe they didn't believe that they were a issue. When the manager realized it was a actual issue that the AC was not working and the electrical outlets were out - he apologized and promised they would work on it. But after three nights of sleeping in a hot room and taking cold showers, we had enough. We checked out early and moved to another hotel for the remainder of our vacation. Although we explained why we were leaving, the hotel refused to refund the unused nights. I had to argue about getting a refund and it took alot of back and forth I finally got a refund for the remaining nights we didnt stay. While I understand cancellation policies, it was disappointing that there was no effort to make things right despite repeated opportunities to resolve the issues. This hotel has a fantastic location and a suite with great potential, but poor maintenance and an inability to address basic guest concerns completely overshadowed those positives. If you're considering staying here—especially in the Royal Suite—I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere until these rooms are properly updated and maintained.

Stayed four nights at the start of our Korea tour , looking forward to going back for our last night next week. The hotel is well located right by subway station, it has a convenience store next door, and it is right by the source of the lovely stream . Our room was on the 14th floor sadly we didn’t have a view of the bustling city out front but otherwise was ideal . Aircon good , safe , Wi-Fi, power shower , all singing all dancing toilet ( I want one ) , fridge , big comfy bed . Breakfast was very nice , can have one item cooked to order ( pancakes , French toast or Shashuka ), but tbh the Buffet was more than adequate anyway with lots of interesting Korean options as well as European staples like bacon and omelette. There is a very good value happy “ hour” in bar from 2-6pm when 2 beers and a snack plate costs 12k Won. ( £6) , considering ordinarily one beer is 15k Won obviously too good to refuse , you can sit outside at the end of a hot day and watch the world whizz by ( and they you!) There are some eateries local to hotel across the highway in the basement of the financial centre, and you can also get an interesting room picnic from the shop , including Jam , egg and potato sandwiches ( better than they sound ) washed down with Soju ( think Sake but nicer and stronger)and ice . However the evening buffet is also great value at 58k Won pp ( £29) discounted for hotel guests. The food is good rather than spectacular ( just the omelettes being replaced by pretty sweets and macaroons) but the big plus is this price includes unlimited wine . Korean wine , yes , but there are 3 reds , 3 whites and 2 fizzes to choose from, we both found something palatable and as you serve yourselves it really is unlimited ( thankfully it closes at 9pm for people’s own safety ) Service is great , English widely spoken. Really looking forward to going back.
