Hotel Cello

I was there for UMF Korea that takes place in the Olympic Stadium, a.k.a Jamsil Stadium. The service was excellent. The hotel manager speaks English and can guide you to your destinations (and call you a cab). A lot of restaurants in the neighborhood within short walking distance. There is also a 24hr convenient store 20m away. Lotte World/Castle/and-whatever-they-call-the-other-department-stores are 5 min away. Toiletries are amazing. Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, lotion etc. By the sink I recall there are six bottles- toner, emulsion, skincare after shave, face lotion etc. All free to use. They also give you a lot upon arrival (See photo). Overall a nice stay.

During our holiday to Korea, we were advised to stay at a love motel for a night just for the experience, so gave Hotel Cello a go. It certainly was a love motel, but was actually incredibly great value. Compared to what you would pay for a like-for-like hotel in London for example, this was incredibly good value!! The room itself was clean, with a huge TV, surround sound, double shower, jacuzzi, two computers, huge bed etc. There were some bits which needed touching up (exposed wiring in the bathroom for example...) but other than the room was fab. It did smell a bit smokey in the bathroom when using the air con which wasn't great, but other than that would certainly recommend this love motel for value - both money and novelty!

The Cello is a "Love Hotel." I knew this when I booked, but as with many reviewers, I checked out of here after my first night -- even though I knew I would lose the remaining 2 nights I'd paid in advance. It's dark, gloomy, reeks of smoke and is almost impossible to find as it's in a seedy area packed with love hotels. Also, once I got to Seoul, all of the regular hotels that appeared booked had rooms available -- and not for that much more than the Cello charges. So it's dark, way outside of the city center, and has very little to do in the area except Lotte World (yawn) and a billion BBQ beef restaurants. Definitely not a place you'd want to stay unless you just need a crash pad for one night in transit and it's the cheapest thing you can find.
