Marriott Executive Apartment

This was my family’s second vacation to Seoul. Last time we stayed at the Grand Hyatt, location was less convenient and for the room - our elder kid slept on the sofa and parents + toddler shared a king bed. Not ideal and our kids are older now, so we wanted an apartment style 2BR but we didn’t want 2 separate rooms or an AirBnB. So I looked around and Marriott seems to check the most boxes: I am bonvoy gold (gives 20% off dining), the facility had indoor pool, Yeouido is close to metro and big malls, and 2BR 2BA room with kitchen and W/D for only $400 night total (exchange rate is very good now 1:1500). The best part was the staff who were super attentive and professional. They proactively did all the little things that shows they care about you and are good at their jobs, unlike hospitality workers in many western countries. We felt like we were important dignitaries. The breakfast buffet was healthy, beautiful, varied, and delicious for good price. A nice way to start the day. The indoor pool, sauna, hot tub were super clean and relaxing. We did not have time for the golf facility or spa treatments. Location: 15 min walk to IFC or Hyundai malls. 20-30 min taxi or metro to Seoul train station. But a lot of traffic or subway transfers if you want to go to farther locations like lotte world, Gangnam, or Gyongbokung palace. The hotel was very clean and quiet - not sure how occupied it was. The furnishings in the room were a bit dated but not a big deal to us. Bathrooms were good. It was very hot in August, so it was hard to get the AC set point just right without it being too cold. 24C seemed to work. The king beds took up most of the bedrooms, so there was little space to walk around or open your suitcase. Maybe because of the summer humidity, bath towels took a long time to dry but you could put them in the dryer. We would definitely come back, thank you!

In a high-tech Seoul, I found these hotel apartments to be very dated, old, and lack-lustre. The stay was OK. Despite booking a one-bedroom suite, I found the room to be small. Has a very dated look with wooden flooring. No USB points. No Bidet in the bathroom. The room is ordinary. The reception is small, and it did take around 15 minutes for us to get checked-in which by today's standards is long. Not a very good experience. There are much better choices, if you are staying in Yeouido.

Recently I have returned from Seoul, S Korea , where I stayed for 51 days. I was a guest of Marriott, MEA at Yeouido. I would like to thank the whole staff ( front desk, room cleaning and the restaurant) for making my stay the even better. I was treated as a special guest the whole time.
