Super dirty rooms, and everything is super old. They have changed my room 3 times. A disaster

Oh dear…. Some close friends have stayed here on a significant number of occasions some years ago, and waxed lyrical about this hotel. They were very disappointed to learn of our findings. It was really helpful that staff members responded very promptly to e mails…and also provided us on arrival with a map of Bíar….but we were a little disappointed that they were not as welcoming and friendly as we normally experience in Spain. We were surprised that the website says the restaurant opens at 8pm, only to find on our arrival that it now opens at 8.30pm. We went elsewhere in the end, to have something to eat, as it was not possible on this occasion for us to dine that late. The bedroom area was fine, it was spacious, the linen was clean and of good quality, on a comfy bed. Our biggest disappointment was the bathroom, which left a lot to be desired. Slippery bath tub, with no provision for a bath mat… and judging by the cleanliness of the shower screen we probably would not have chosen to use one had it been provided. There was grime around the exceedingly flimsy, folding, elderly bath screen, which was ingrained with limescale, and what looked like far too much dirt/ mould. This was evident on the grouting for the wall tiles in the bath/shower area also. The bathroom window is in an area which gets splashed when the shower is used, and sadly this was also encrusted with limescale. The shower gel pump was not working properly, and you had to pull the nozzle back up, before it could then be pumped to dispense! Despite waiting a long while, the first person only had tepid water to shower with, the second person was luckier, and had a hot shower (Grrrr…. You can tell that the person writing this was the unlucky one!) There was one good sized bath towel, the other was a hand towel…and there’s no prizes for guessing who also lucked out on that one! The room was heated, but the bathroom was not…and in February perhaps that would have been a good idea! We were surprised that despite there appearing to be connections, there was no television …which was a pity as we wanted to catch up on the Spanish news and particularly the weather forecast. The veneer on the bathroom door was peeling badly at the bottom, no doubt from frequent mopping. The carpeting in the corridors was also looking rather sad. Can see that this could be a lovely hotel, as it is in a delightful small town/village, well located, with good parking either on nearby road or in their car park (paying) and it would probably warrant it’s four stars when there has been some significant refurbishment.

All very well, especially the receptionist Pablo very attentive at all times. All the doubts we had have resolved them with a smile and very kind
