Hostal Las Gaviotas

Since 2012, we have been in the habit during our vacations in Spain of spending two days and one night in San José, and practically every time we have stayed at the Hotel las Gaviotas. The rooms are always impeccable, the staff very friendly, the establishment is well located, close enough to the center to walk there and far enough away not to be bothered by the "summer night noise." Overall, the hotel is quiet at night. Access to Genoveses / Monsul beaches is direct by car, but the shuttle bus can be taken practically in front, a few dozen meters away. Only one downside this year: the breakfast. It is very cheap (5 euros), which no doubt explains the low-quality orange nectar, the almost undrinkable coffee, the lack of cereal and yogurt and other things... No more self-service buffet for a few years now (apparently many guests were "helping themselves" for their lunch sandwiches), but as a result, the server behind the counter forces us to have either a huge piece of bread or a small croissant, no way to mix and match. We will return to the hotel, most likely, but for breakfast we will probably go to one of the many nearby bars and cafeterias.

Highly recommended. Quality in service, rooms, and breakfast. Pleasant pool area.

Honestly, for being a hostel, the experience was very good; it is in a quiet area even though it is just 2 minutes walking from the promenade. The pool is great and not crowded given the occupancy, the rooms are quite acceptable, and the included breakfast is quite good. The staff is attentive and friendly; without a doubt, we will return the day we come back.
