Parador Merida Hotel

Very nice rooms with small balcony overlooking courtyard. Interesting architecture and period furniture throughout. Good location for the monuments. Reasonable price for room but parking was ridiculously 24 Euro a night. Most expensive fee for any hotel we stayed on this trip through Spain and Portugal. Large bathroom, everything clean, fluffy towels. Breakfast was too many sweets and no coffee machine, must request coffee and any eggs from staff. Fast service but we prefer getting our own from a buffet as is common in most hotels. Lost a star for the breakfast and the parking fee.

not as crazy as sometimes described. You drive up to the entrance, ring the bell. And the porter is already there to help. He even brings the luggage to the room after check-in. The Parador is unique in terms of history; the various rooms invite you to linger. The staff is very motivated and committed. Our room was mega large and very clean; unfortunately, no windows that open.

It is a museum, one of the best paradores I have visited!! It has so much history that a high percentage of tours stop at the door and explain a bit of its charm!!
