Do not go near this place they are real troopers, they will steal your money and never give it back in case of a cancellation, and the worst thing is that they will re-rent the rooms behind you immediately. They then will say that they normally do a refund, but exceptionally they can’t, some buisness man hiding in Madrid or Barcelona seems to manage the place, whereas two Girls from south America seem to work there seven days a week all hours a day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, they are absolute bandits, more to the point I would say be careful very dangerous, I have reported them and opening a legal issue... I thank Trip advisor for respecting the right to write, and sincerely hope what has happened to me never happens to you, as except from crying and crying because some "so called" friendly hotel, is actually using websites such as Booking, to make more money than others... nothing stops him just refunding the money, he has re rented his thrree rooms, I even suggested he gave me half the money.. but hiding in his office he got the girl, to refuse ... it is not worth iit, there are hundreds of hotels in Barcelona, just DON'T PICK THE HOSTAL D'EDEN .... I use these websites all th time, and never in all these years have I had such problem............

We decided to go for the Hostal Eden at the time we were on a budget and on first impressions this seemed like somewhere we could sleep for the night. We booked a double room with an en-suite bathroom for 3 nights.
Firstly the location is excellent, if you are travelling to Barcelona BCN you can get a train to Passeig de Gracia station (only 4 stops). This drops you only 2 blocks from the Hostal Eden and the walk is a simple straight line from the station. Opposite this is a fantastic little bar and a Carrefour Express supermarket. Furthermore you are a short walk to the city centre or back to the PdG and underground station if you fancy going further afield. For this it is superb value.
The room was clean and comfortable and at the back of the hostal (room 107), it had most of the basics including air-con, double bed, safe, toilet, sink, tiny bath & shower as well as a guest single bed, TV, mini fridge and kettle. Overall this was perfect and we slept well. There was a toilet and shower down the hall and a lift to take you up and down with a 24 hour reception on level P.
There are some amazing doors dotted around the building and very high ceilings suggested that once upon the time this was a remarkable building. Sadly as a budget hotel it is all a little tired the windows seemed to be balanced in their frames. It is hard to criticize and I would like to see that they would maybe look at increasing their prices slightly to update and renovate a little. This would still make it excellent value, but would certainly help with those tired parts. I would definitely advise providing some new and cleaner mugs as well as basic coffee/tea/milk sachets.
All this said I would go back and highly recommend, in addition to this the staff were very friendly and helpful. The safe is tiny but seemed secure enough for our extra money and passports. All main things we left locked in our cases and experienced no problems. Downstairs by reception are some lockable cupboards which were very helpful for the last day when we locked all our cases in there while we explored the city before our evening flight. In addition to this is a small seating area and an outside seating area.
Noise in the area seemed okay. It is not on one of the main roads, but Barcelona is a very busy city and I can understand the front of the building may experience more noise than our room at the back. Power sockets are limited to one in the bathroom, one for the TV and one for the mini fridge. I'd suggest if you are taking chargers for your phone to take a multi-way block to help. We bought our own little continental breakfasts from the supermarkets and that did the job.
Lastly I would recommend the Sagrada Familia, it is about a 20 minute walk from here and the Mussol restaurant was fabulous this you pass on your route from the PdG station.

The hostel has some advantages: good location, rather helpful staff, towels and bed linen changed daily, a fridge in the room, a private bathroom with warm water, and of course the price. However, it is rather run-down and definitely needs renovation. Also, we could notice strange smell from the AC, so we didn't use it.
There are different rooms: those on the street side can be quite noisy, but our room on the court / garden side was really peaceful. We booked a twin room with 2 beds and got a double room with one bed at first, but later they changed it for a quadruple room. We were glad, but this situation means that you may not get what you have booked.
All in all, it's good for a budget stay, but if you like elegant and modern interiors, just look for something else.
