La Mola Hotel, Spa and Golf

Driving up to this hotel gives a nice impression, the beautiful scenery in of this hillside estate is actually marvellous. The hotel itself is indeed the problem. The reception area is overall at an ok level but problems emerge when entering the hotel rooms. My room was located in one of the wings with a balcony towards the reception yard. The smell of mildew met me at the door. Some of thw woodwn detailing in my room had literally turned into a rotting piece of wood and the general upkeep left lots to wish for. The wifi password gave away not having been changed since almost ten years back, and I fear it is the same for the interior. Food was also below average when comparing to the pricing of my stay. It pains me to say that this hotel has all the opportunities for being a 5 star resort but amounts to a 1 star at its current state.

An establishment that must have once been at the top... but is completely abandoned today... the services were certainly of quality 10 years ago... but nothing has been maintained... half of the spa facilities are unavailable... if the quality of breakfast is acceptable for an establishment that claims to be. 4 stars, the quality of the half-board dinner is below everything... nothing is "edible"... it is unacceptable... moreover, it is impossible to sleep on the nights when events are organized in the "events" space right next to the hotel... in short, move along! Even though the staff, who are not responsible for any of this, do what they can to remedy all these troubles!! (The cherry on top, note well that if you book a package with "unlimited drinks" from 6 PM to 1 AM, you will not be entitled to any chips or olives to accompany it!!! Think about bringing your own peanuts!!)

After 17 years of organizing a golf trip, this is the first time it has been so catastrophic. Aside from the top-notch golf courses, the hotel and dining are truly more than dramatic. The hotel has an obvious lack of maintenance. The dining is only in name, and is not even worthy of a very low-end cafeteria. In short, it is a place to avoid.
