Pelayo Hotel

Hotel was decent- no frills (beds and bathroom), good location, good a/c. When we checked in they told us we were all set because we had prepaid when we booked online. Come to find out they charged our credit card almost double the quoted price that was confirmed on email (no, the exchange rate did not double between when we booked and arrived)- so basically, we were charged near luxury hotel $ for a bare bones no frills hotel. This huge upcharge has definitely colored how we look back on our experience at the hotel, and unfortunately, to some extent, on Barcelona. The hotel will not, still has not (1 month out) responded to any of our emails or phone calls. So beware doing business with Hotel Pelayo because they may smile to your face, but cheat you then ghost you.

Despite some negative reviews of this hotel that had put me in doubt before leaving, my 4 night experience at this hotel went well. The bedding is comfortable, the cleaning done every day, the room and bathroom are clean. The receptionists and all the staff are very friendly and smiling. I had room 106 behind the front desk, I want to make it clear that I was not bothered by the noise, even when people arrived. I sleep without wharf balls, so I slept well. I heard the famous tremor once or twice, it can't be the subway otherwise we would hear it more often, there is an underground train line that passes not far... The hotel is very well located.

Nice small hotel within a building, not hard to find, great location!!! The reception stuff were great, very friendly and helpful. Hotel has access 24/7. Room was nice and clean, got fresh towels when we needed. If you want to visit Barcelona and you need a place to sleep it's perfect. We were out all day every day during our 4 night stay, the bed was comfy.
