Barcelona Universal Hotel

Very good hotel. Location suited us well and was only a 10-minute walk to La Rambla or to the port of Barcelona. Metro directly outside. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable. We had an inner room with light through frosted glass from the lightwell, which was fine and was very quiet. Another member of our group had a room looking on to the main road but the noise wasn't too bad for them. Breakfast buffet had everything you'd want. Rooms cleaned with new bedding and towels every day and beds were highly comfortable. Roof terrace great for views around Barcelona and to the sea. The small pool was handy and never too busy (pool towels were provided in the room or could be picked up beside the pool) and plenty seating areas there is you wanted a quiet read or drinks/snacks. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

The hotel had very poor breakfast. The food was smelly. The rooms were below average. The iron not working, the kettle in the room was not working, the bathroom shower was not functional. There is no way that this hotel can be classified as a Four Star property !! Not recommended at all

Just back from an amazing 3 night break with my daughters. First time for us all together in Barcelona ❤️. Couldn’t fault the hotel. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating 🙌. The food was so delicious 🤤. We stayed in a triple room on the 4th floor a little noisy at night but that’s to be expected being in the heart of Barcelona ☺️. The roof top bar and pool made the hotel even extra special 👌 with the most amazing views 🥰. Highly recommended
