Holiday Inn Express Bilbao

Stayed one night to catch an early morning flight. Party of five we reserved three rooms. The hotel only has queen and twin beds. The queen bed was very small. The rooms were clean and comfortable but have no extras. Only shampoo and body wash in the bathroom. There is a coffee maker but we did not try it. They serve an included breakfast but we had to leave before it opened. They have a snack bar in the lobby and we were able to order pizza and drinks there. Again nothing special but okay.

We weren't staying here for the airport location but instead as it was a good place to base ourselves for 4 days traveling around Bilbao / San Sebastian with a car which had just come from a French campsite, so laden down with bikes & a roof box. The room was perfect for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids, air conditioned & quiet. The hotel was clean with plenty of surface parking. All staff we met were obliging and kindly allowed us store our bikes in an internal store room. The breakfast was absolutely fine - cereal, yogurts, fruit, bacon, juice, bread / pastries, tea / coffee etc. There was a small bar which was fine for glass of wine in the evening and a restaurant next door which we used once - fine if you're hungry & need a quick meal. We found a couple of nice restaurants in the nearby Denio area also. It's not a romantic luxury hotel,but convenient, clean & good value. We would stay again. One negative which I deducted a star for - don't use the vending machines beside Reception as they seem very unreliable - the product I selected did not dispense, and I saw the same thing happening another customer, and Reception will not help other than tell you to call the number on the machine...an issue if you do not have fluent Spanish!

Convenient for airport but pretty bland and faceless. Drinks expensive. But it's an airport hotel so you would only go there for convenience, as there is nothing to do in the area. Very helpful and professional receptionist
