Hostal Carlos II

A basic hotel suitable when you need somewhere to sleep overnight for one night. We arrived about 10pm and were out about 9am next morning. For this purpose, the hotel is fit for purpose. However, the big issue is how bad the room smelled. It was like having someone smoking non-stop in the room the entire time. There is also a lot of noise until late at night from an adjacent square and the square undergoes a motorised cleaner service next morning, so sleep could be a challenge.

We walked in off the street needing two rooms for six nights. This was after walking out of another hotel we had pre-booked that proved to be grim (Hotel Miramar). We were shown two rooms, ready prepared. The rooms are comfortable, clean, with heating and free wifi. They are serviced every day, with clean towels if requested. Staff have been very good, helping me out with my very limited Spanish using google translate! The location is excellent, close to the lovely town square, restaurants and walking distance to the border/airport. Great value for money. I will definitely stay here again. I recommend room 302 which has a balcony!

Very close to the bus station, Gibraltar and the restaurants of La Linea. Excellent location. Staff was very pleasant. Good, strong WiFi. Unlike many inexpensive hotels it didn't go up and down. Rooms and bath are small but clean. No soap provided, but shampoo was. The air conditioner worked well. The price, when I was there, was only €31. That is quite nice.
