PARADOR

Parador recently opened after a perfect and beautiful renovation (like everything in life, there will be those who do not like it). Great welcome from Sergio at the front desk. Fantastic superior room with a large terrace; it lacked no detail and was brand new. Perfect climate control. Breakfasts are not yet served at this Parador, but rather at the Gil Blas (which has also been given a new look), a 30-second walk away; therefore, it is not an inconvenience at all. Good breakfasts served by a competent, perfectly coordinated team. Lunches and dinners, also at the Gil Blas, were all very good and with fast service. The staff is pleasant, approachable, and very efficient: Sergio, Natalia, Mercedes, Víctor (the young guy from the cafeteria, I think that was his name)… to name a few who are an example of the entire group. In short, then, an excellent stay that we enjoyed enormously. Furthermore, and without a doubt, the charm of Santillana del Mar and its surroundings is an added incentive.

After the renovation, the Parador de Altamira is an almost perfect luxury. Modern and comfortable interior. Spacious rooms with everything necessary, a very quiet environment despite being only a few meters from the hustle and bustle of the most touristy streets. The only drawback I would point out is that they were unable to open the restaurant service in the middle of the summer season. It is strange to have to cross over to the Parador de Gil Blas to have a coffee with milk, to have breakfast, or to have dinner...even if it is just a few meters away.

It has been closed for many years and has just reopened. Everything is new and shiny. Modern and minimalist interior. Spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, the bathroom is impressive. Being a bit away, you do not notice the tourist hustle of Santillana del Mar. Silence and tranquility. For breakfast and lunch, you have to go to the other parador that is very close. I have been told that soon you will also be able to have breakfast here. There are some minor issues since it is newly opened and some things do not work as they should, but the staff is making an effort to solve everything. By the way, the breakfast at Gil Blas is very good. Highly recommended if you want to visit Santillana del Mar, and if you do, do not forget to go to Santa Justa beach.
