Hotel Vieja Mansion

I discovered this hotel on AirBNB and there was a promotion. She offered to pay in cash. I took the breakfast option: it is not good at all. Sweet bread, scrambled eggs, overheated coffee... When she leaves she tells me I have to pay. I am convinced I paid in cash but accepts the doubt and settles. I then realize that I forgot VISA marten on the bedside table (100%). She tells me they didn't find anything and now I think she's lying. And she could lie about the payment. I tell them. She sends me a lot of videos where I don't pay, which doesn't prove anything. She threatens to press charges if I dare to raise this in public. I've recalculated and I have a $40 hole. My certificate was there. Those are the facts. I'm never going back there again. I prefer La Cigale (always on top) and Hotel Pegasus.

Beautiful antique hotel. The bed and sheets were fantastic. Great staff (speaking mostly Spanish, but we communicated fine). Good breakfast. Super walkable location to local historic sites and restaurants. When I needed to get to the bus station, taxis were unavailable so the manger (currently at their other hotel) came over to give me a ride to the bus terminal! And even helped me carry my bags. So kind! The walls made speaker phone conversations, tv, and music echo a lot which may only matter for sensitive ears. Reception played modern pop music - not fitting for the era of the hotel (but it was extremely quiet near my room). Overall if I return to Cuenca I will strongly consider staying at Hotel Vieja Mansion!

I loved the food there, they have some tremendous dishes, but the staff was very rude. Especially the older waiter, he was really bad. And be careful of your belongings, things tend to disappear. I wouldn't go back.
