here we go! i read many negative and positive reviews with many conflicting opinions so booked and went with an open mind. Firstly this review is my and family's opinion, do your research, i did and yes it is remote and baron around the hotel, not at all pleasing on the eye. situated between the airport and caletta 15minutes on the bus or a 17euro tax ride.
we opted for superior double room which are the two high apartments and fortunately well away from the standard pool view rooms. superior rooms have excellent air con, power shower and big tv, unfortunately on arrival 22:30 there was loose tobacco in the bedside draws and a half salad baguette in the fridge, apart from that it was ok. In my opinion these superior described rooms are quieter than being in pool view rooms. one point to note a room safe is 41 euro with a 10 euro deposit for a week. approx 135-150 sunbeds so no need to rush to reserve a bed, however pool cleaners are washing down tiled floor and sunbeds, so be warned if you have gone out before 07:30 to get your prefered location. The pool is salt water with shallow end being 1.40mtr upto 1.65 at deepest end. something to note people were complaining that either salt water or chlorine was turning swimming wear yellow/green, buy cheap and dont worry or bang your fists on receptionists desks and expect compensation. restaurant ok, food pretty much available all day despite being quite repetitive and to be fair the staff are always polite and welcoming, but be warned the restaurant manager with call you out loudly if she sees you trying to smuggle out any food.
generally the staff throughout are very pleasant especially if you try using basic spanish with them.
Now my biggest fault with the hotel is the smoking site wide which has been mentioned before, it is bad! the restaurant is at the end of a walkway and past the dreaded evening bar/caffetaria so if you can hold your breath then great otherwise walk past chain smoking, prolific swearer ignorant inconsiderate people. The mentioned bar i found lifeless and uninviting, i hope management can overall this.
Big thanks go out to the entertainment manager Georgio who keeps the guests involved all day long and doing very well despite it being a very difficult job to do day in day out, he got Jack playing table tennis, darts and the film/music quiz which turned into an almost saloon bar brawl. too much alcohol for some people.
i would love to say i will return but highly unlikely .

This is my second visit to hotel tropical in fueteventura. Last year I can by myself and found it very friendly, low key and safe. This year I can back with my daughter and we had a lovely relaxing week.
It’s a 3 * and is perfectly adequate for a quiet getaway. The buffet restaurant caters for adults and kids and does its best to cater for all tastes.
My daughter and I also visited the beauty salon. She had a gel manicure and I had a massage by the lovely Natalia. Not well published at all, but well worth booking in for all your spa needs. I highly recommend Natalia at perfect beauty. 🌟

Had a week’s family holiday here and would say that this place is your average three (ish) star hotel. Unfortunately, this place just isn’t really geared up for kids. The entertainment package that is advertised, is just one lovely man who does his best. No kids entertainment or kids club.
Food pretty average, and not very tailored to children unless they are interested in cold chips. Only some of the food items are labelled, the rest is a guess. Themed food nights had some alright dishes.
Rooms were average. Cleaners come in almost everyday (expect Wednesday or Sunday). No clean mugs provided though, you get to reuse the same two mugs the whole time. Sheets and towels only changed once a week. A lot of pigeons around the hotel that like to sit on the balcony, bird poo is not cleaned up so your outside furniture ends up covered. Additionally, the whole of the outside hotel is covered in dog poo, with no attempt pick any of it up. Broken tiles all over the floor which could end up being a hazard. This place could really do with a maintenance team.
Unhelpful reception staff when power kept cutting out in a room throughout the week.
Best feature of this hotel is the salt water pool, it’s absolutely lovely. Plenty of sun-beds and parasols around. Drinks were okay and pool side bar is nice. They do end up playing music from the same playlist everyday.
The next town over is very nice and close to the hotel, it’s an average 4 Euro taxi drive away. It’s your average tourist town with plenty choice for both bars and food.
If you want a later check out, you probably won’t get it as all our rooms where booked again and we could only have them till 2pm. They say that you can have “suitcase storage” downstairs, which consists of a tiny cupboard that is overfull and then they offer you to put all your luggage in the bar area. Not secure at all.
