Cotillo Lagos

Great accomodation, very basic but we knew that when we booked it (that's why it was cheap!). We had a studio (a 1 bedroom apartment was an extra £400!) on the ground floor which was perfect, with a reasonably-sized living area, a kitchen area that we only used for ice cubes for the gins(!), and a sleeping area with 2 single beds which we pushed together, and which were sturdy enough to stay there rather than 1 of us falling through a gap in the middle of the night! There are around 30 apartments in the complex, whose best asset by a mile is access to the beach. As well as being able to see the beach and the sea from the terrace (upper level properties have a balcony), we were literally about 20 steps from the gate which gave direct access to a beautiful beach, with a shallow drop into the sea (which was surprisingly cold for this time of year in the Canaries, so got paddled in but that was it! Some hardier souls swam in it but I opted out of that!) 2 minor complaints; 1/ Because the floors are tiled, noise carries through the apartments, particularly as we had a family above with 2 young children, who could be heard running around from quite early each morning. If you are a light sleeper you should probably request a second floor property) 2/ Several times we ran out of hot water when showering. We suspected that the water is solar heated in a tank on the roof, and there were times when it would suddenly run cold, even after just a few minutes showering. If you are into long showers, beware of this! Otherwise, I liked it. El Cotillo as a resort is small and is beginning to be developed. It's a bit of a drag over the mountains from the airport (we hired a car as always, it took about 45 minutes in the dark, the roads are generally pretty good but are unlit all the way over once you get off the motorway and the Puerto del Rosario ring road), but the road surfaces are excellent throughout. There are plenty of decent restaurants, and we worked our way through a number of these through the week, and were never disappointed. Would I recommend El Cotillo and Cotillo Lagos? Yes. Would I stay there again? Probably not, Caleta de Fuste is much more conveniently located, as it's much more central. Would I visit El Cotillo again? Almost certainly. All in all, a very enjoyable week. Just beware the long queues when back at the airport due to the new EES system which doesn't seem to be working very well!

Hello. February 7, 2026. At reception, a young woman treated me rudely, bureaucratically, unprofessionally, and dismissively, suddenly acting like a supervisor and controller. I've known Cotillo Lagos for 20 years. Before, everything was great there: friendly, pleasant, and competent. But now I will never return.

Absolutely mediocre, starting from the fact that our “apartment” was full of ants to the smell of dump even with the door and windows opened all day long. No proper lightning, no matter where you put your food there are always gonna be all sorts of insects crawling into it. I could go on about it but I’ll leave you here the last. After complaining for two days in a row about hot water as we were trying to have a decent shower after laying in the sun all day we were told the second day that we only get 10L of hot water per day so if you anything like me that you need your 1-2 showers at day there is not chance of getting the second one for sure. I definitely recommend you not to book these “apartments “ as they are a ripoff
