Roger de Flor Palace

The location and property is the best in Lloret De Mar (1 hour north of Barcelona on the Costa Brava), on any budget. The property itself is stunning though a little tired. Situated high on a hill it has wonderful views of the beach and town from above. Access to the town and beach can be done via stairs or an elevator. The option we chose included a balcony room, buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner which was of excellent standard. There was also free evening entertainment every night, again of high standard including Flamenco displays etc. Staff were also very professional and although primarily catering to the Spanish and French clientele were very helpful and understanding of our limited language skills. On our initial arrival we were given Rm109 which has historic odor issues (Google) and were initially fobbed off by the front desk with a it is what it is! However once speaking to the lovely highly professional manager we were moved to Rm210 and what a lovely room. Special mention of the pool and outside bar area- absolutely world class! Great views, an exclusive feel without being snobby and enough loungers, umbrellas or cabanas for all. Great music (not too loud) and good drinks and bar staff. Also the small cove directly under the castle on the beach, a wonderful place for a relaxing swim away from the main beach. Just some tips for management: 1) maybe because there is no electric jugs provided in the room keep the coffee/tea machines available 24hrs in the dining room not just breakfast?2) take card payment for the pool towel deposits not just cash? Most people don’t carry cash when swimming- better still don’t charge at all unless not returned. Keep up the good work.

Recently stayed her for the Easter weekend ,had a lovely stay ,it's got fantastic old Spanish charm with beautiful pieces of furniture and antiques dotted around the property,the staff was amazing and very friendly,the breakfast was very varied and catered for all ,I especially liked the Panini maker but was disappointed with the juice.i really wrote this review because only one thing really took from the weekend and it might seem trivial but I think it impacts the areas "vibe" ,on the strip there are plenty of souvenir shops that sells t-shirts and women's underwear with very crude and vulgar sex references on them,they are everywhere anf in your face.I personally think that these displays demean the area ,they are aimed at a certain type of tourist who I'd like to think lloret de mar doesn't need or want.Lloret de mar deserves better...
