Hostal de la Gloria

Disaster!!!! We booked 2 rooms directly with this hotel on 27/2/17 and received a confirmation email. Our booking was for 31//5/17. We notified them that we would be arriving late as our flight was due in at 22.10 hours in Gerona and we were going to hire a car and drive to Viladrau. I sent an email reminding the hotel of our late arrival the day before we travelled. We arrived at midnight (4 women) to find the hotel was all locked up. There was no-one around and no accommodation anywhere.We heard the next day that the hotel closed the week before. Why were we not informed??? This is a remote area - people can't be left high and dry. Who wants to spend the first night of a trip in a car?? Do not book with this hotel.

We've been at this hotel twice with the whole family, and everyone liked it. They changed some staff and the cheff at the restaurant, and the menu has only gotten better. The kids loved the cozy hotel with it's indoor playground.

I stopped there after finding this place on a bike ride, I take bike tours all around Spain and this looked promising, I was greeted by two female staff members who were laughing at me , I then had to ask if the place was open ,it seemed as though I had interrupted there cigarette break. I asked for a coffee and was told no food at the moment which was fine , then they came back and said there was food, the coffee and food arrived which was just average ,in the half hour I was there I was not approached once by staff. I was surrounded by cats as I ate , at least the cats were attentive ! I walked over to my bike to get some money and found the cat had jumped onto the table and was eating the food on my table. The staff continued to lie on the sun lounges and were extremely rude and very unhappy that I had interrupted them in order for me to pay . I would be embarrassed to take anybody there for this kind of service, I feel sorry for the owner of this place if this is the service his staff are giving , just disgraceful for a tourist spot.
