I have a bit mixed feelings about this place, so let's start with the good things. The personnel at the reception were very nice and attentive, the apartment was definitely big enough, the cleaning ladies did a good job and the WiFi worked relatively well. The location close to the beach was excellent and there were several restaurants and cafes nearby. Then to the sad part. I had seen several quite truthful pictures of the rooms prior to booking, and I knew that we weren't paying a fortune for our stay, but I still couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed with Castillo Playa. This place was let down by the shabby and way too worn out textiles. I had never seen before at a hotel or a B&B sofa and bed covers that were practically see-through at places (yes, it's ecological to use things until their "end", but this was just ridiculous). This was also the first time that I ever regretted not bringing my own towel from home. The "clean" ones we got were stained and so old that they should just have been used to wipe the floors, not for paying customers to use them. The blankets felt a bit iffy as well. I know that this is an "old-school" apartment hotel and you get what you pay for, but I still feel like they could easily make a huge improvement and can't see no reason why they wouldn't do so (buying new towels and bed linen is not an impossible investment). I could consider staying here again if I got a good deal and the updates mentioned above were done.

We stayed at Apartamentos Castillo Playa between September and October 2015. Nothing negative can be said about this structure, really. The apartments aren't that spacious, yet they are fully equipped. Free wi-fi works very well even on the top floors (they have one router per floor!) and the staff is truly fantastic.

I stayed 2 nights here. Nothing fancy, but everything you need -including small kitchen. Ask for a room with a big balcony as I did, and you may get room 601, which has french doors opening onto a flat roof with a view of the sea and furnished with sun beds and a table and chairs. They don't serve food, but the Hotel Verol opposite does, so its not far to go if you want breakfast out. The only downside for me was that there are 3 steps up to the front door, then a further flight of steps up to reception (where the elevator goes from). As I have a Rollator walker, this was a bit of a problem, but the staff were very helpful in getting it up and down. Location is a short walk from the sea front.
