Rio Bidasoa

Spacious and functional room but quite shabby and not at all cozy. We were put in the basement with a terrace that is a pit with no views and the restaurant in front above with a wedding with the music blasting since 10 in the morning. That day we could not make use of their facilities, among others the pool with 30-something degrees also as a result of the wedding that was there. I do not recommend it.

Everything was excellent, except for the toilet paper; you'd better bring it from home, it's garbage. It would also be good if the Susgarri restaurant were open on Sundays so you wouldn't have to leave, but otherwise, it was great.

The hotel is located at the foot of the old town and also close to the Bidasoa River, the border river to France, along whose banks the promenade leads to the sea. It is somewhat away from the national roads and highways, but that is a good thing! Because the beautiful town of Hondarribia is practically a dead end and thus remains free from heavy traffic. The hotel is easily accessible by car and has its own parking spaces. By the way: there is a bus stop about 150 meters away, from which the old town center of San Sebastian can be reached directly via line 21 (about 30 minutes for €2.50). Along the promenade, it takes about 15 minutes on foot to reach the beautiful town center, where many good restaurants can be found. There is a small airport nearby, but the flight operations are minimal and do not disturb. The rooms are modernly equipped, clean, air-conditioned, spacious, and quiet. Important: the beds are good (firm mattresses). Those who want to use the pool must wait until June 1st, even if there may be summer temperatures beforehand (water is a precious resource in Spain). The outdoor area is well-maintained, and there is a separate event room available for use. The Wi-Fi could be a bit stronger. The breakfast is very good and highly recommended. Everything is fresh and there is a wide selection. The service is friendly and gladly assists with requests/questions. The bar is open from 7 PM to 10 PM (this depends somewhat on the number of guests). Our conclusion: we would come back again.
