Quirky above luxury, but everything was clean and in order, staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Location is absolutely first rate for old town Donistia, it’s an old building so expect some compromises, but it all works and as I say location, location, location.

Pensión Ab Domini offers a unique and charming experience right in the heart of the city, in the Old Town. The rooms are small but fragrant and clean. There’s an ultra-small balcony overlooking the bustling street, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee. The accommodation doesn’t have its own parking, so you’ll need to pay for street parking or use a nearby garage, which isn’t cheap. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who, in her charming English, explained everything about the accommodation and gave us great tips on what to do and where to eat in the city. The entire mini-bar was free—wow, respect! The bed was very comfortable, and considering the street noise, we were gifted earplugs—a nice touch, so we can’t complain about the noise now :-) If you have the option, ask for a corner room—pure romance.

Positive points: room located in the old town, quality bedding, very welcoming staff. Negative points: very expensive (€169 for a very simple room with a small balcony and bathroom, toilet), very noisy environment night and day, difficult access by car (pedestrian zone), no air conditioning.
