Barcelo Monasterio de Boltana

A very special place; we spent a weekend there, and we will return. The facilities are beautiful, with many corners inside the hotel to relax, including a library and the church open 24 hours a day. There was no crowding at any time. The mattress was very comfortable; my husband, who is so picky, slept wonderfully. The day we checked out, we were able to use all the facilities until the end of the day, with the option to shower in the spa area. The staff were very attentive and kind, Tiago at the front desk, Marcos and Nico in the pool area, the spa with exterior views was very complete; definitely worth repeating. The terrace at night next to the river is beautiful. The breakfasts were spectacular, and the dinners had very original dishes... the faux risotto and the desserts are worth highlighting... The only downside would be trying to have breakfast a little earlier, even though it is at 7:30, for those of us who go hiking in the summer. Otherwise, the breakfast is so good that you can almost go without eating.

Amazing place to stay and for a reasonable price. Rooms were fabulous, staff were super helpful. Pool area lovely. Restaurant good, although my entrecôte had to be sent back as it was way too chewy…they sorted it quickly though. Would definitely recommend

Fabulous location and the public rooms are amazing. We were not told the hotel is undergoing a renovation and the third floor was a work in progress. The bedrooms are large but uncomfortable- the monastery vibe is not pleasurable. The biggest problem is the restaurant - the food is terrible. We saw 2 tables complaining and returning food. My food was overcooked and tough but others had cold food. This ruined our experience. At breakfast the same situation- the hot buffet food was cold! The butter on the other hand was warm. Nobody checked on the temperature of the food - fundamental in a restaurant. A criticism outside was that there was no shade or covered parking.
