I was at the Villa de Canfranc hotel a few days ago. A superbly located hotel opposite the beautiful Canfranc station. The room, although somewhat dated, was spacious, clean and decent, so everything was fine in that regard. The only problem was a very unpleasant incident with the man who served me at reception in an impolite manner, which I will now recount.
When I arrived, they gave me a room key. When I went up, I discovered that the only way to lock it was with a key (it doesn't have the corresponding latch to keep it locked). I went down to tell her if she could give me another key because if I went out and locked the door, my wife would be locked in, and if she locked the door from the inside, she would have to get up to let me in every time I went out to go shopping or do something (she has a lot of mobility problems).
He replied that there was only one key. When I told him I had never seen it, he rudely replied that "I had already seen it." When I explained my wife's problems and her fear of being locked in, he rudely told me that I was giving him a hard time about the key (there was a young man with him who was a witness). In the end, he went into the office to look for another key, but he was grumbling while I was talking normally to this young man, explaining the situation. From inside the office he continued to growl rudely, saying that I was "hitting him with the key." In the end I told him it was just as well to leave him, but then he came out and gave it to me.
I didn't understand anything, isn't it more normal to have another key, especially considering that you always have to lock it? How are you going to leave someone locked inside if you go out, or if they have to get up to open the door for you if, as in this case, they have very limited mobility?
In short, a problem that has a very easy solution (in fact, all hotels give you two keys), which ended up being very poorly resolved due to this person's poor manners.
As for the rest, everything is fine, I have nothing to say.

Good value priced hotel across the street from the train station. The only negative - no ac, very hard to cool the room. Breakfast also a good value for 7€, although I do wish that hot eggs were on the menu (hard boiled were offered). Good place to explore the town from. Lots of free public parking right across the street. Good for one night.
