A special shout out to Giovanni, Ite, Rachel and Jesus; the lovely restaurant waiters who couldn't do enough for us. Flavio and Alex from the animation team alongside Dan who organised impromptu water polo. Not to forget the bar manager who was always happy to make a (proper) Pina Colada.
Great location, about a 40 minute transfer from the airport and surrounded by banana plantations. A small family-ran cafe about a 2 minute walk outside the hotel, otherwise a bus or car is needed for any shopping. It is a very quiet location, overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Everyone was very friendly and so the atmosphere was great. The rooms are nice, however the bathroom could use a bit of updating. The bathrooms have a separate bath and shower. Rooms are cleaned and mopped daily however a card is needed to be put on the bed to get the sheets changed. We suggest to book early as the price is significantly cheaper instead of last minute, however it is worth every penny. The indoor swimming pool and spa are not included in the all-inclusive package and come at a surcharge. However the gym (free) is impressively equipped and outperforms the standard hotel "gym". The closest beach "La Zamora" was shut for the time we were there due to a rockslide but it looks very nice. The buffet food was very high quality and catered to all tastes, there is a separate book-able restaurant overlooking the cliffs called "The Mirador" which serves more seafood and bbq dishes as well as fantastic sunsets.

Overall rating: 4/5 – A stunning hotel in a very remote location, with great service and a few practical quirks
I recently stayed at La Palma Princess as a family of three, and wanted to share a detailed and honest review that reflects my own experience. The hotel itself is excellent, but the location won’t suit everyone — so it’s worth knowing what you’re booking.
🌋 Location & First Impressions
The hotel sits at the bottom of a huge mountain in a very rural part of La Palma, built on the site of the 1970 volcanic eruption. It’s dramatic and beautiful, but also extremely isolated. If you’re looking for a holiday where you can walk out of the hotel and explore shops, bars, or a lively resort, this is not the place for you.
That said, the welcome was spot‑on. We arrived late evening and were greeted with prosecco, and even though the restaurant was closing, staff made sure arriving guests still had access to food. A small gesture, but appreciated.
🛎️ Check‑In & Room
Check‑in was smooth and relatively quick.
Our room was exactly what we expected — a little dated, but clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need. Housekeeping came daily, beds were made, and the room was kept tidy throughout our stay.

🏊 Pools & Outdoor Areas
The pool areas are one of the hotel’s strengths. There are several pools to choose from, and we never struggled to find a sunbed. If you want shade, you do need to plan ahead, but there’s none of the frantic early‑morning rush you see at other resorts.
The pools are cleaned frequently and the grounds are well maintained.
Entertainment during the day mainly happens at the top pool near the spa. The water here is quite shallow, and there were some broken tiles underfoot which caused minor discomfort. I suspect this will be addressed in the off‑season.
🍽️ Food & Drink
We mainly ate at the Food Market restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the selection was varied enough that we never struggled to find something. If you don’t treat it like an “all you can eat” buffet and instead pick sensibly, there’s always a good mix of options.
Desserts were a bit samey if I’m being critical.
One odd quirk: no coffee available at lunch or dinner in the restaurant. You can get coffee from the Piano Bar throughout the day and evening, but it feels strange not to have it available with meals.
The all‑inclusive drinks selection was a little disappointing. Only a handful of cocktails were included, and for the rest you pay the difference — which, in many cases, wasn’t much cheaper than the full price. Something to be aware of if you enjoy a varied drinks menu.

🎭 Entertainment
Daytime entertainment was always available if you enjoy that sort of thing.
Evenings were a mix of outside acts and the Enjoy animation team — some better than others, but generally fine.
In the Piano Bar, most nights featured either Fabio or Flavio. We only saw Flavio, but he was outstanding — a genuinely talented pianist who added a nice touch to the evenings.
🚐 Excursions
We booked two excursions through TUI:
Full‑day Northern Palma tour with Roque de los Muchachos
Morning was good, afternoon felt underwhelming. I’ve reviewed this separately with TUI.
Coast cruise with dolphins and whales
A nice half‑day experience with free soft drinks included.
One thing worth mentioning:
Even though you’re all‑inclusive, the hotel does not offer a packed lunch for excursions. Considering you’re paying for AI during your stay and then paying again for food while off‑site, I think this is something the hotel should reconsider.
You can expand this section later via excursion details.
✔️ Final Thoughts
La Palma Princess is a clean, well‑run, friendly hotel with great pools, good food, and staff who genuinely try to make your stay enjoyable. The remote location is the biggest factor — it’s perfect if you want peace, scenery, and a self‑contained resort, but not ideal if you like exploring on foot or having bars and shops nearby.
Overall, we had a relaxing stay and felt well looked after. With a few tweaks (AI drinks variety, coffee availability, packed lunches for excursions), it could easily be a 5‑star experience.

Firstly, I really wanted to love Princess Hotels and in particular La Palma Princess. We booked with TUI, all perfect there. I also upgraded to Esencia (Adults Only) and the premium drinks package directly with the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the staff work hard to ensure you have an amazing time. The problem is the food and the drink. At best the prepared food was luke warm. We tried three restaurants and everyone had the same problem. Whilst there was freshly prepared food (entrecote and fish) available most nights, it was very much the same each day. The starters (salads, cold meats etc) were plentiful and tasty. Desserts were cheap cakes, rice pudding, and jelly.
I have been lucky to travel to many places with many different brands on hotel, but more recently H10 and Sandos. Their all inclusive premium means all inclusive premium. If you want a bottle of wine with dinner no problem. Here at Princess I had to pay (€25). The mini bar is empty, you have to pay to have a mini bar filled. You want crisps and snacks and ice cream, expect to pay, again. Come on Princess Hotels, you can do better.
In all the hotels across the world I have never had to pay to play mini golf, here at Princess, guess what? You have to pay €3 per person per game.
Let's finish on a positive! It is a beautiful hotel and the rooms are a decent size and clean.
