Apartamentos El Patio

The worst experience we have had in a hotel, the unwelcoming and dimly lit apartment, is a "commercial" premises transformed into an apartment. But the worst part was that at midnight (2:30) we woke up very itchy and checked that the beds were full of bed bugs... we warned the landlord who tried to find us another place but did not get a response until 7 in the morning, so we were lying all night in the street sleeping in the car. This is a clear symptom that cleaning and disinfection protocols shine through their absence in this place. Not recommended.

We arrived by ferry to Santa Cruz on Carnival day and all the hotels were full. We booked this apartment as a last resort a couple of weeks beforehand. It took 50 mins by bus and only cost 2€ each. The studios are signposted from the main road just after a Hyperdino supermarket and a petrol station. The ground floor apartment had a pleasant little garden but was furnished in a basic manner. This would have been fine if we had paid the winter rate of 25€ but was very expensive at 100€ per night for carnival.

Honestly I have never seen so many large spiders in one apartment. I was given a ground floor apartment and the doors to the terrace were open on arrival so that might not have helped. But the ceilings were quite tall and the number of insects around was disgusting. Also, despite the fact that I made the booking on an international booking website they took my money before the trip which was not in the terms and conditions, which suggested to me that they cannot be trusted. Really there is nothing that would tempt me to return.
