We are currently staying at this hotel in Lanzarote. I’d like to start by saying that the staff are absolutely wonderful. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, polite and incredibly hard-working. They really do their best and are a credit to the hotel.
Unfortunately, despite the excellent staff, there are several reasons why we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
The biggest disappointment was the food. The same meals are served on a constant rotation for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with very little variety or themed evenings. By the third day we were completely bored of the choices and ended up eating out several times, despite having paid for all-inclusive.
The dining experience itself wasn’t particularly enjoyable either. Meals are served in a large indoor canteen-style restaurant, which becomes very noisy, and there is no option to eat outside. At dinner, guests have to wait for staff to bring drinks to the table rather than helping themselves. While I assume this is intended as table service, there simply aren’t enough staff to make it work efficiently. On several occasions our drinks arrived when we had almost finished eating. We found ourselves wanting to eat as quickly as possible and leave, rather than enjoying the experience.
The pool area is clean and well maintained. There is one seawater pool with a lifeguard on duty, and it’s worth knowing that inflatables aren’t permitted. Sunbeds can be reserved from 9am with towels, but if your sunbed is left unattended for more than an hour, staff will remove your towels. Personally, I thought this was a fair policy and helped stop people reserving beds all day without using them.
The hotel itself is very clean, and our room was modern, comfortable and nicely decorated. There are just a few small improvements that would make a big difference. For example, our bathroom had no extractor fan and no window. As we were staying as a family, this wasn’t ideal and could easily be improved.
The location is probably better suited to families with younger children. We travelled with teenagers, and there was very little for them to do nearby. There are a handful of bars within walking distance, but no real nightlife, and most attractions require a taxi.
Overall, while we genuinely appreciated the fantastic staff and the cleanliness of the hotel, the repetitive food, uninspiring dining experience and location mean we wouldn’t return. If these areas were improved, it could be a better holiday experience.
