Plaza Azul

Had a lovely 10 night stay at this hotel the location is brilliant if you’re ok to walk up a 5 minute hill. Rooms are basic and comfy got everything you need to cook a meal and rest when need to hide from the sun for a while. The Cleaners are brilliant and friendly, fresh towels every other day. The pool bar and staff are lovely and the snack food is amazing and cheap!!. Now onto the sunbed situation there are plenty of sunbeds the only issue is selfish people put there towels out the night before and then don’t use them until 3pm the lifeguards do move them but this is not always the case daily I saw this happen a couple of times. There are always sunbeds stacked up but the space is limited of where you can actually place the sunbeds without blocking or causing a trip hazard or feeling like your lying on top of the person next to you lol. The reception staff are fantastic and friendly. We will absolutely be back to this hotel it has everything you need for a budget friendly relaxing fun location with the strip a 5-10 minute hill walk downhill.

Sunbed situation is ridiculous. People are allowed to leave towels on beds overnight whilst other towels are removed by staff/guests. The rooms are tired and in need of a good paint/refurb. It's a shame because the cleaning staff are lovely and do the best with what they have and I must admit the rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable. Massive issues with the reception staff. I emailed to ask for 3 rooms together, which we didn't get. I also asked if they hired beach towels, which they said they did. They don't..... They sell beach towels at an inflated price. For our last day we were told we may be able to keep the room on. At 8am on the day we were asked to come back at 9.30am at which point we were told the hotel was full. Just seemed like we were being fobbed off. How does a hotel full up within an hour and a half. Whilst we were there the police attended due to a domestic dispute. I realise the hotel cannot legislate for the calibre of guests they attract, but all in all it was not a great experience to deal with when you are supposed to be relaxing with a family and friends. Since returning my son and daughter have had really bad coughs which I suspect may be down to the pool. The final nail in the coffin was the transfer back to the airport that the receptionist arranged and it cost €35 more than the journey to the hotel. Please avoid asking them to book return journeys in advance for you. Get them to call a taxi 10 mins before. Having visited Puerto del Carmen many times before I'd say the location is decent, really convenient for the night life, shops and bars but you can probably get a better property equivalent in price..... next time I will do more research. Didn't stop us having a good time but not without it's frustrations.

We have been staying in Plaza Azul for over 15 years. Great location and brilliant big pool (although slightly chilly!) The apartments are clean and well kept. The staff are always friendly and so accommodating. Would highly recommend.
