It does NOT correspond to a 4-star hotel; the room is old and very neglected. The worst 4-star hotel I have ever stayed in, by far.

We have stayed one night at this hotel. From the outside and in the common areas, it transports you to the Middle Ages (in a good way). We got one of the rooms that face the back of the hotel and that are not renovated, and it also transports you to the Middle Ages (but in a bad way). It was super shabby, very old, and it was horribly hot. There are no more pillows or cushions than the one on the bed, which turns out to be very high, and you wake up with your neck like the girl from The Exorcist. We stayed on a half-board basis and it is not worth it. The food is all "canned". Nothing homemade, and let's not even talk about the breakfast. There was a potato omelet that looked very good. When I cut a piece, I saw that it was cold from the fridge. I heated it for 30 seconds in the microwave, but it was inedible. Dry, the potato was undercooked. You could tell it was made the day before. For me to leave a potato omelet... The rest of the breakfast, the same. Terrible quality. Not even the coffee is decent. 2 minutes from the hotel there are many options for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Any of them will be better. If you go to Ponferrada, I recommend that you look for other accommodation.

It's a shame about the hotel; the building is beautiful and the location is great, but it is being neglected; the mirror has chips that expose the material inside; the bathtub has a chip the size of my hand; the floor drain (yes, indeed) has a broken grate... and at breakfast, they were very cheap, as that is the word; cheap. They could have a hotel level like a parador, but due to neglect, they have it like an old, broken hole.
