Fogar do Marineiro

Terrible hotel. It has many stairs, it does not have a continuous elevator, and you have to keep going up with your suitcases on the stairs. Short-staffed in every aspect you can imagine. Uncomfortable mattresses. The shower water did not work and they do not give you solutions.

Hotel with accessibility problems. I don't understand how you have an activity license if you violate by far law 10/2014. The worst part was that I personally called to book two nights, to pay with a tourist voucher, and the price of the reservation was 149,69€. Upon arrival at the hotel the receptionist told us that when paying with a voucher, which was already spoken, we would have to pay the standard price €162.75. I felt conned. I do not recommend the hotel.

Ribadeo is a charming village. It is the last coastal stop on the Camino del Norte. So we decided to stay 3 nights to rest near the ocean. The Fogar do Marineiro Hotel, owned by a local chain that operates many small hotels, was our base for two reasons. Firstly, its terrace, reserved for guests, offers the best view of the beginning of the festivities organized annually which sees an old rigging deposited elegant and elegant dressed in white as part of the festival of indianos, those Spaniards who emigrated to Latin America before returning home once made a fortune. Second, its spa and small pool: no beach strictly speaking Ribadeo but only a marina today. The spa didn't disappoint us. We booked it every day of our stay (one hour slot each time for a small fee) and were each time to enjoy it. Only downside: at each of our passages, leftover cookies and a can of beer remained in places. Hygiene is certainly the black spot of the establishment. On two occasions we went back to the room in the evening without it being properly cleaned: dust remaining on the floor the first time, unemptied bathroom garbage the second. The room and bathroom were ok otherwise. The receptionist will arrange for the guests.
