Perla Marina

Amazing hotel, rooms very clean and comfortable, breakfast spot on, plenty to choose from, we had a balcony room overlooking the sea which was a nice touch

We have just spent a fabulous 10 days at the Perla Marina Hotel We booked this hotel in January as we heard it had recently undergone complete refurbishment, so we looked past some of the poorer reviews here which were pre-refurbishment and gave it a chance. We were not disappointed! On arrival I was a bit skeptical as the building looks a bit tired in places outside and the reception area is dated but that is where it ends. All other areas and rooms are modernized to a decent standard. We were allocated a room in building two just across the quiet one-way street from the main building. The corridors are modern and contemporary. Our Room had the most amazing sea view and whilst basic it was fresh, modern and had everything we needed including a powerful walk-in shower. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily. I would 100% recommend paying extra for a sea view room, listening to the waves crash on the shore is blissful! The wow factor of this hotel is the roof top pool. It is stunning! There is a small infinity pool which can get quite busy and a jacuzzi tucked away which we felt like we had to ourselves most of the time! We always managed to get sunbeds. They are usually all taken soon after the pool area opens at 10am but people seem to come and go throughout the day, so you could usually get a bed in late afternoon after a day out. I cannot comment on the beachside pool as we did not use it. The beach directly opposite the hotel is the quietest beach compared to the busy beaches around the Balcon area. You can rent sunbeds for €6 each. The beach is quite stony, so beach shoes are recommended. The hotel is situated around 15-20 mins stroll into the old town with plenty of bars and restaurants along the way. For us it was the perfect location, a short stroll to the bustling lively old town but a beachside haven with enough in the area on nights when wanted a more chilled pace! A special mention to the lovely housekeeping team who do a fabulous job and always had a friendly smile and a good morning, and the hardworking bar staff on the roof top bar. It was extremely hot and busy up there and they did a fantastic job! We would return!

The best thing about this Hotel is the staff. From the exceptionally friendly, helpful people on Reception to the house keepers who always say "Hola" when they pass you. The main communal areas could do with updating, but the new rooftop pool is superb, except it should serve food. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. The beachfront location is excellent. Excellent breakfast.
