Despite arriving just before midnight we were greeted with a welcome smile and friendly face. Very efficient check-in (we had a reservation). I had stayed here previously and was pleasantly surprised that the bar/breakfast area had been reformed to a high standard. Despite the late hour we were still able to order a drink (nightcap) from the bar. On entering the bedroom once again I was surprised that the room had also received an element of reform from my previous visits. The room (410) however has contained within a cupboard a boiler that presumably serves other rooms as we were woken by the noise of the boiler refilling. Annoying at 7.00am but I suppose other guests get up earlier than us! Great location, good value for money. We would definitely stay again but in a room without a boiler! 😄

Very conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the railway station and in the centre of Arroyo de la miel. The hotel has wonderful staff where one staff member was exceptional and that is a lovely lady called Paloma. She is the type of hotel manager that makes the customers feel at home and her personality makes her customers want to return to see her each time they arrive on a return visit. And I will definitely be returning.

I had mixed expectations as to the quality of my stay in this budget hotel, but they were met and exceeded . Albeit the facilities were basic, as I expected, but provided great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was a double with a balcony facing the street and having partial seaview, there are also rooms with an outlook to the inner courtyard. The no frills room and whole hotel were exceptionally clean and daily servicing meant I returned every day to a bedroom and bathroom in pristine condition. The bathroom was spacious and water pressure heavenly for refreshing showers. The location is perfect with less than 200 metres to the Renfe cercanias station, enabling easy access to Malaga and other resort towns like Fuengirola and Torremolinos for day trips as well as to the airport. Also you can use your debit/credit card tapping in and out of the cercanias train stations rather than joining lengthy queues for the tickets. The beach is just over one km away down the hill, so maybe not ideal location for those who plan to spend a lot of time sunbathing (but there are local buses serving the area). There were plenty of bars and restaurants around the area. Basic Spanish breakfast was available at a very reasonable rate from the hotel bar. Hostal Sol y Miel faces a pedestrianised street and with the windows double glazed there was very little street noise - however, the atrium was open to the street and other floors so therefore not all noise could be eliminated (one has to take into account the Spanish lifestyle). All in all, for the class of hotel advertised this is a gem!
