Jardin de la Muralla

I loved Hotel Jardin de la Muralla! It is located beside a 400 year old church in the original walls of the Medina in Ronda. The house itself is 350 years old. Jose Maria greeted us when we arrived and was a wonderful host to us the 4 days we were there. It felt like we were in a movie, the house is magical and so moorish with the central courtyard, wrought iron railings, high ceilings, big rooms with 4 poster beds. Full of antiques. The back garden was so amazing and peaceful with gorgeous flowers, canaries singing, fabulous pool area. Breakfasts were organic eggs, thick slices of fresh bread and delicious butter. We were lucky enough to have the room at the back overlooking the gardens and the fields. The sunshine hitting the hills behind the hotel in the early evenings was special. If you are looking for a special place to stay that is as far removed from a modern hotel as possible, stay here. We loved it.

We were hungry and got seduced by the lovely garden... the garden setting is the reason for the 2 stars! The food was either paella or pasta - both processed muck just reheated. Plus the manager was really not pleasant. Avoid this one, there's plenty of better choices around...

We stopped for a drink in their beautiful garden; absolutely magical. After the son gave us the bill and I had handed over a €50 note the father over ruled him and increased the bill by 50% with no apology or grace then physically pushed my wife when she complained (I had already walked out in disgust at this point!). AVOID!
