Can Simo Petit

First off the location of our room was great, right in the old town walls which was what we wanted. We usually stay at air bnbs but came across this hotel, which I would say was more like an air bnb. I cannot comment on other rooms feeling like this though as the hotel is made up of three sites in close proximity. Our room, 408 was accessed via a private door near the back entrance of the restaurant. It had an internal stair case, to the main room & bathroom area, and a further stair case within the room up to a small terrace. From what I gather, other rooms at the hotel do not have balcony’s or terraces. It was private and therefore because we had our own separate door etc felt more like an air bnb than a hotel, which we prefer. Check in was easy, via an automated check in screen in the main hotel, 1 minute away from room 408. They sent detailed instructions via email and text regarding how to use this and where it was located as well as a map of where the different rooms / hotels were, so unsure how others have managed to not be able to find their room etc. if you want an actual person to check you in, this is not for you. When we checked in the key was dispensed and unfortunately we did have a little trouble retrieving it , as it had slipped to the side, luckily I could get my hand in and locate it to the right at the top. Room was spacious, compromised of two single beds pushed together, which unfortunately we didn’t find particularly comfortable. Windows with wooden openings and an aircon unit which was much needed. The bathroom closed with a sliding door, but due to the stone walls, which were beautiful, it didn’t fully close, worth noting if you like complete privacy. The shower/bath tub also had a gap behind which went into the sink / bedroom area, again, if you require privacy, say two friends staying together this would not be for you but as husband and wife it was fine. Double sinks and mirrors. soap/shower gel provided. Safe in wardrobe. Mini fridge also in wardrobe, did not use drinks provided as believe these were chargeable but used the fridge to store our own drinks and milk. Kettle in the room. No iron or board though. Terrace was lovely to sit out of an evening, view of the local church but could be quite noisy and could be smoky as overlooked the steakhouse courtyard. This did not bother us. Pool was a nice temperature and pool towels provided. Tv in bedroom had Netflix etc which could be changed to English. Shower was powerful. Overall this is a very beautiful hotel room, but some things did let it down. It could easily be amazing which is what was disappointing. Some of the small issues: It didn’t feel as though it had been cleaned properly when we arrived, there was a lot of dust around and the floor of the terrace was dirty. The fixtures and fittings were tired and require some attention, taps had limescale, sink was cracked, toilet roll holder falling off, bedside tables were rusting, needed a fresh lick of paint etc. these things are easily fixed and would make it live up to its 4 star rating if rectified. Being a hotel, the maid did try and attend but we had our do not clean sign on for the week as we prefer to not have people in our space, so cannot comment on this aspect. The other issue was the light. There were many windows which all had shutters and blinds but there was a large pane of clouded glass in the main area, which had neither. Even though the restaurant closes at a usual time, cleaning up etc is still going on and as such we found it difficult to sleep with the light coming in. Overall I would stay here again in room 408, as the positives outweighed the negatives for us.

We arrived at around midnight and weren't told we had to book into the main hotel around the corner, there was no reception open , only by luck we found out. Our names were not recognised on the system,took about 2hrs to get into the hotel eventually! Room was tiny, nowhere for me to get ready ( put make up on etc) sloping ceilings in the bathroom which didn't help in there! The historic centre is lovely, however dont use this hotel, its definitely not 4 star!

My experience at Hotel Can Simó was very disappointing. I traveled to Alcúdia for an important family matter and initially booked a room. Later, I had to additionally book a suite worth €220, as the establishment informed me that it was not possible to add extra beds for the minors traveling with us. What caused me the most problems was discovering that the accommodation does not operate like a traditional hotel. The rooms are distributed in different locations and accesses, with numerous flights of stairs. I have a recognized disability of 59% and a dependency of 26%, so this information was essential for me. Had I known about these access difficulties beforehand, I would probably have chosen another accommodation. I was also surprised that the establishment lacks a physical reception. The only means of contact was a phone number, but every time I tried to call, whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening, an answering machine would indicate that they were out of business hours. When I finally managed to communicate the problems encountered during the stay, the hotel did not contact me at any time to inquire about the incident or to try to offer a solution. Furthermore, the general condition of the suite did not match what I expected for the price paid. I found various maintenance and conservation issues that I photographed and submitted during my complaint. After the intervention of Booking.com, the accommodation also showed no willingness to reach any agreement. My intention with this review is to help future travelers, especially those with some degree of disability or mobility difficulties, so they have all the information before booking.
