We have just got back from a week here. I was very sceptical after reading reviews. We stayed Magnus side which I'm so glad about! There's definitely good and bad points to this hotel The room was spacious (magnus suite) however the cleanliness was not the greatest. The bathroom in particular needs some tlc. Water from the shower leaks all over the floor which has caused the wood on the door and the doorframe to come away. Air con in main living area but none in the bedroom. Family of 5 - double bed in bedroom and sofa bed in living area. Camp style bed very uncomfortable and squeaked with every movement. Fresh towels daily but we were only given one extra bottle of water Magnus pool was great however the Fergus pool was CHAOTIC to say the least! Really not my idea of fun. Very very overcrowded. Im so glad we booked Magnus! We never struggled to get a sun bed at Magnus side. Food was typical AI - some nights there were good choices but some nights repetitive. Food often cold. There's more choice in the Fergus restaurant however that again is CHAOTIC! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Drinks were good. We're not massive alcohol drinkers, we had a few cocktails which were good. Overall we had a good week however I wouldn't stay here again. TripAdvisor needs a 'good' rating between Average and Very Good! I wouldn't stay in Paguera again, not much going on to be honest. If you are going to book I would highly recommend booking Magnus simply for the quieter pool and restaurant.

Our fair and honest review as a family of four — 2 adults and 2 children, staying for 7 nights on the standard all-inclusive package. Before we arrived, we read a lot of reviews and noticed that opinions were very mixed. We always try to be as open-minded as possible when going on holiday and don’t expect everything to be perfect, so we arrived with an open mind. The positives First of all, the staff were, overall, really friendly and genuinely seemed to work incredibly hard. You could see the same faces day after day, constantly running around trying to keep things going, and for that they deserve credit. The alcoholic and soft drink choices from the bar were good enough for us, and if you wanted your drinks stronger, they were happy to do so without any problem. I don’t really understand the complaints about the drinks being “watered down” when you can simply ask for more. The pools were good and more than enough to keep the children entertained for the week. In all honesty, though, the pools are probably the main reason you would choose this hotel, given what is advertised, so you would expect them to be good. The food was okay for an all-inclusive. Some days the selection was disappointing, while on other days there was a decent choice. One of the children is quite a fussy eater and she always managed to find something she would eat. However, after a week, even she had had enough and we decided to eat out one evening. The air conditioning in our room worked throughout the whole stay and kept the room comfortable. The hotel also provides a free bus to the local town, which leaves every 30 minutes. This was really handy, although the service stops at 17:30 and there is also a two-hour break between 13:00 and 15:00. The negatives Unfortunately, there were more negatives than positives for us. The rooms are incredibly basic and, in our opinion, definitely not what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. Everywhere you look, you seem to find something broken, worn or in need of a proper clean. There was a bottle of water in the fridge when we arrived and, according to the hotel description, this was supposed to be replaced daily. It wasn’t replaced at all during our stay. Our room was cleaned three times during the seven nights and the towels were changed once. We personally felt this was poor for a 4-star hotel. The floors constantly felt dirty and weren’t mopped at all during our stay. The sunbeds are a massive issue. Unless you are up early and “reserve” one before around 8am, you are unlikely to get one until late afternoon. Apparently reserving sunbeds isn’t allowed, but this definitely wasn’t policed during our stay. The only action we saw was cards saying “no reserving sunbeds” being placed on beds that had already been reserved, so we weren’t really sure how effective that was. Ironically, the beds in our room were so uncomfortable that either myself or my partner would often wake up around 6:30am anyway, meaning that if we wanted a sunbed, we could get one. For our family of four, the children were given a double pull-out sofa bed to share in the front room. It was incredibly old and noisy and wasn’t two standard single beds. This wasn’t a massive issue for our girls, but I could imagine it being a problem for older children. There also doesn’t seem to be enough staff to adequately cover the whole complex. You see the same staff members day after day trying their best to keep up. Basic tasks, such as clearing dirty and empty glasses from the designated areas, often weren’t done, which resulted in hundreds of wasps gathering around them. There were only ever two members of staff behind the bar in the evening, which made getting a drink a painful task when it was busy. There also aren’t anywhere near enough tables in the restaurant. Unless you’re one of the first people in, the tables can be extremely dirty by the end of the sitting, and finding a clean plate could sometimes be a challenge. The plastic cups used around the complex also frequently smelled damp, presumably because they were stacked while still wet, and many of them appeared to need another wash. The entertainment was poor throughout the week. This was made worse by the lack of outside seating, which resulted in a few heated exchanges between other guests on occasions (none involving us). The hotel complex is incredibly hilly. Our room was located right at the top of the hill, and the walk with young children could be difficult, particularly when carrying suitcases and especially when it was wet. We were also very surprised there was no hand railing or no textured paving slabs and we witnessed people slip over. The Wi-Fi was very hit and miss across the complex and didn’t work in our room for the entire duration of our stay. There was also a constant smell of sewage in various parts of the hotel, particularly at times coming from the bathroom in our room. The pools are advertised as being open from 10:00 to 18:00, but people were genuinely using them from around 06:00 through to 23:00, with nothing appearing to be said about it. Other points to note — not the hotel’s fault The local town of Peguera is roughly a 15–20 minute walk each way. It’s all downhill on the way there, which obviously means the walk back isn’t particularly pleasant, especially in the heat. The town is very heavily geared towards German tourists. Food and drink prices were also expensive. A round of drinks consisting of two alcoholic drinks and two soft drinks was generally between €20 and €30, and the cheapest beer I saw was €5. The local beaches were all good, but unless you use the bus, they are all a bit of a walk away. Overall Most of the people we spoke to during our stay complained about many of the exact same things we did. It definitely wasn’t a bad holiday, and we still had some enjoyable moments as a family. However, based on our experience, we wouldn’t recommend this hotel and would advise people to consider other options. We would personally never return. Having read other reviews referring to the hotel as “Butlins in the sun”, I have to say that, unfortunately, we can see exactly where that comparison comes from.

To start with, believe the wording on the jet2 website of the resort being hilly! We upgraded to the Magnus side and weren’t sure what the upgrade was; the restaurant was quieter but flies in and around everyday, the room had ants in the bathroom, it wasn’t properly cleaned everyday and needed some serious tlc to the decor and furnishings. There were designated buckets to put your cups in which weren’t emptied regularly so just attracted swarms of wasps. The restaurant served leftover evening food for lunch and tea the following days, which just doesn’t sit right with me. There was plenty of choice but it was very repetitive which I suppose is expected of all inclusive restaurants. Straw from the pool bar roof all around the pool and whatever stone the floor was left dirty orange residue all over your feet and towels, it just felt so dirty. We never saw the pool being cleaned and you could see the cloud of suncream in it every morning. We had a look at the splash pool and I have no idea how anyone got a sunbed around there as it was packed every morning. We visited the baby club a couple of times but no one from the hotel was there and it was literally just a room with a few bean bags in it. The evening entertainment was okay, disco from 7:30 and then some form of show on either inside or out. There’s a lidl about a 10-15 minute walk away and there’s a bus which takes you down to the beach and is pretty regular. Wouldn’t visit again and was extremely disappointed.
