Palia Puerto del Sol

There is so much I could say about this hotel but I would be writing an essay ! So here is the shorter version……Stayed here at the beginning of June and it was our 7th time at this hotel ( that more than says enough) and we as always had a fantastic time. I mean where else do get a view in Cala D’Or like that whilst eating your breakfast/lunch or evening meal it’s stunning no matter what time of day it is. Sitting on the adults only terrace with an ice cold drink just watching the world go by is amazing. Yes the food can get repetitive but doesn’t everywhere after a week ? . The salads were amazing and I could have munched on them all day. We tend to eat out quite a bit anyway as so many places and variety on the marina and in Cala D’Or and Cala Egos’ main town. Rooms very clean and spacious with a proper mattess and clean towels every day if requested. Air conditioning was fantastic to the point we turned it off to sleep ! Lastly but certainly not the least the staff in this hotel all work so hard even in the extreme heat to make our holidays. Marthias and Tilio certainly made our holiday so much fun with my husband joining in on nearly all the entertainment they put on. All the entertainment staff work really hard but Mathias and Tilio just have a fantastic rapport with all the guests and remember us when we return. Marie and the guys on the adults only bar are great and remember our drinks and Marie runs the bar amazingly. I don’t usually leave reviews, but feel I need too, as I wouldn’t have booked if I’d have known this. We also go to 3* hotels a lot, so know what to expect and we aren’t fussy. CONS We arrived at the hotel with 2 kids at 2am, to our room boiling hot, stinking of damp and crawling with ants. We went straight to reception to ask to be moved, but told there were No more rooms and to speak to the manager the next morning. Went to reception to be told no rooms spare but cleaners will come in. When we went back, the room smelt a little better and ants were gone, however still had white mold fluff on the walls, but by the next day smell and ants were back. Again went back and Still wouldn’t change our room. We hardly slept due to the heat. Air con was on full in both bedroom and main room but it was rubbish, not great when they’re having a heat wave. Many people around the pool were complaining too. Both boys cut their feet on the bottom of the main pool, along with many others we saw as-well. Some days the drinks in the restaurant and pool bar tasted of pure salt water, so had to go to the shop to be able to drink something. Our nephew also got locked in the pool toilets and had to be rescued by the maintenance guy by bending the pvc door with a screwdriver to get him out. Food in the main restaurant was ok, not loads of choice on a nighttime so ended up eating out a lot. PROS A big shout out to the entertainment team who work really hard, especially Mathias and Tilio. Lots of fun and even remembered names which was nice, considering there are lots of guests! Lots of activities throughout the day :) Reception helped to book taxis to the main part of Cala d’or and there is a free bus to playa Gran beach too which comes every 10minutes. Location is great with Lovely views from the main restaurant and bar above of the harbour. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby too. Could be a really nice place if improvements are made and customers aren’t fobbed off about the rooms.

DONT GO THERE! We are a family of 8 with 3 rooms. Our air-con dont work at all. The rooms are alle dirty and the cleaning team dont clean the rooms at all, they only make the bed… The first day we cam we went to the restaurant. At first it looked good, but then. The food is the same all week and everything comes from a frozen box or deep fried. You cant live a whole week with only fries… then we wanted some water for the food, and we took it from there dispensers, it tasted awefull, it was full of salt and it was thick! We told the staff it tasted to salty and the taste was the same as the pool water. I asked the reception what was wrong and he said it wasent the same at all. Then i told him to try and taste the from the restaurant, he refused… They didnt even compensate us with a bottle or water… So we went to buy some water for our rooms and the fridge didnt work either, so you can only drink warm water. Even tho they have a snack bar at the pool, they only thing they serve is burgers and fries all the week.. you will get tired of it, even do its better then they food in the restaurant… Our room has been full of ants the whole week and the staff dosen’t do anything to “clean it up”. The drain in the bath, donset work, so you have water all over the bathroom floor. The pool is very dirty, and the floor at the pool area is cracked so your daughter cut her foot. We are never comibg back..
