We booked the hotel some months ago to be able to view the total eclipse of the sun on August 12. We were not disappointed. We arrived after midnight and were welcomed at reception with a drink and check in was quick. Our first impression of our room was well above expectations. We later found out that we had been upgraded to a junior suite without asking. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom clean and as we found out the next day we had a balcony with a table and chairs and a couple of reclining chairs. The receptionists are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. On the first night the air conditioning was not working properly but on reporting this, it was fixed within minutes. Every bedroom has a sea view. I have always been suspicious of buffets but the food was outstanding, always hot and fresh and the dishes topped up as soon as they were depleted. The restaurant staff are attentive and a special mention needs to go to the maitre de from Uruguay is engaging with a permanent smile. All the restaurant staff are helpful. At €30 (most) nights the value is incredible. I believe the standard of hygiene to be first class as I never saw a fly in the restaurant. When we were in the hotel we had a light lunch in the bar/lounge which was more than adequate. The hotel had entertainment on five nights in the ground floor bar with quizzes prior to musical acts. I recommend going as I won two bottles of sparkling wine on separate occasions. The hostess from Ukraine has a great personality and got to know all the regulars. On the evening of the eclipse a designated bar with a view of the setting sun was made available with tables reserved for those lucky enough to receive one in a lottery however half the bedrooms looked out in the direction of the eclipse so they could view it from their balcony. Lovely hotel , attentive staff , fabulous food., plenty of sunbeds , Please , please sort the air conditioning!! So hot for sleeping and uncomfortable in the restaurant and public areas

I just wanted to clarify a recent review where this hotel was criticised for sun bed wars. Yes, there are a handful of people that may want a bed right by the pool and queue at right when the doors to the pool open. And some that want to sit together in a large group. But, bed availability is NOT an issue. I am currently here now. As I write this review at 1020, dozens of beds are free, including Bali beds. And it’s the same every day. As the day progresses it does get busy but there are odd beds still available. Don’t let the review put you off on this issue alone. I haven’t witnessed this in the previous seven years that we have been visiting this awesome hotel!
