Barcelo Pueblo Menorca

My daughter and I have spent our holidays here several times as we have always had a great time. The hotel has now changed ownership (we booked our stay under the previous name and were not advised of the change until many months later) and the result means we are now looking for a different hotel for our holidays. The hotel is now badly maintained: we had black mould in our shower, rubbish is left for days in the pool/sun lounger area, weeds have not been cleared from the paved areas and one of the cubicles in the ladies toilets near the restaurant could not be locked for the entirety of our 2 week stay despite our reporting the issue. The animation team works hard and are very welcoming but the activities are not as varied as in previous years and offered on a two-day rolling programme, so frankly boring. The evening entertainment is also very limited. The Saturday evening live music and the cocktail trolley have completely disappeared. So much for a fun environment. The food offer was disappointing on a daily basis. It is now of mediocre quality, poorly presented and over repetitive. The "hot" food is at best tepid and the only way to heat food is by using a cheap basic microwave that takes 5 minutes to bring anything to a reasonable temperature. The desserts are uninspiring (seriously, do you think I want to eat jelly at all, let alone every day?). There is no freshly pressed fruit juice at breakfast and very few Menorcan specialities at dinner. The dishes are poorly labelled, if at all, and no allergy information is provided. The wine provided in the restaurant is absolutely undrinkable. The menu at the outside bar is a shadow of its former self. The recyclable cup system is an absolute joke, not thought through and hugely inconvenient. I support any environmental effort but I don't see why I should have to take a dirty cup back to my room at the end of the day and wash it myself. I can think of at least one solution to this problem. The only redeeming feature is the long standing members of staff who do stellar work but must be disappointed in the changes they are witnessing. The hotel is rated 4 star (probably because it has a spa) but in reality it is 2 star and has LOST ITS SOUL.

Just returned from our 21st year at this hotel going back to 2005 when it was the old 3* Barcelo, to being redeveloped 2010ish and reopening as the 4* Barcelo to being rebranded about 7 years ago as the Occidental and now this year under the new ownership as Seth Punta Prima. We booked the hotel in August 2025 when it was the Occidental before its sale to the Set Group expecting the same facilities and quality, how wrong we were. Pool bar use to do great meals such as a good array of fresh salads, a nice nacho dish along with the usual array of hamburgers hot dogs and sandwiches. This year the salads have disappeared replaced with a German potato salad whatever the hell that is, the nachos have gone but there is now a tapas selection on the bar menu but according to the Set Group tapas consist of chicken nuggets or chips Main restaurant the food is putting it mildly bloody awful, to the extent I spent most of my holiday living off chips Bar Golf, use to be a great stop off on the way back from the beach, free entry and all inclusive, this year an adult has to pay 25€ and a child 12.50€ to enter, that’s 75€ for a family of two adults and two kids to get the day pass and the drinks are no longer all inclusive. Whilst we were there it was World Cup, all the games were shown live on the tv at the pool bar until the night of England v Norway when a minute before kick off they had a technical hitch with the tv and the tv went down, later transpired that the technical hitch was that the management would not pay for it to be broadcast So 21 consequetive years of going to this hotel this as the last year we won’t be going here again

Fantastic resort, with excellent food and a huge selection. Super helpful and friendly staff, impeccable order and cleanliness. Highly recommended also for the vast choice of activities offered and above all for the beauty of this place. We will definitely be back!! Andrea and yasmin
