Hostal Casa Jacinto

It is a cold and rainy day and when you enter the bar, restaurant Casa Jacinto you are grateful for the smell and heat of the embers of the grill. As always and with a smile, Josep greets me. Pintxo tortilla with aioli and coffee cut with a cloud of cinnamon. How good 😋 Thank you very much for your dedication and love, as well as to the whole team. Congratulations team 👏

Modern room with great heating. Checkin did not work first with our booking number through the outside terminal. After a while bar staff attended and we got in. Last chance for us to get a room before Pamplona on our Camino, so we were grateful for it. Bus is only 2 min away and goes straight into old Pamplona.

We were lucky to find this hostel just before it closed up (in mid-afternoon). We were almost desperate by this time to get a place because of the heavy outbound traffic and our location. The town of Burlada is a suburb of Pamplona, which was closing down for the Easter holiday. Easter Sunday is a huge celebration throughout Spain but it begins on the Wed afternoon prior. Everythiing closes up and most people head to the seashore. So, we got caught in that traffic and never found a hotel we thought we could afford. I had heard that hostel rooms did not have their own baths and had been reluctant to try one. The reception desk was reached by going through a restaurant whose chairs were already stacked on the table in preparation for shutting down. The young man in charge of the hostel showed us the upstairs room and we were pleasantly surprised. We had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs but they were well lit with motion sensitive light. The room had a double bed and a small table. The bath was clean and the towels and TP were OK. The view from the window was a car dealer. But, it was also shut down. So, we had quiet. The TV was an old 12" set with no working remote but that wasn't too important. We'd go back. It was clean and had a decent bed.
