Don Hotel

This is a lovely place to stay within a 15 minute walk of the town centre. It's a lively, buzzing place with lots of Spanish families having a good time. They also have Sky football (or whatever the equivalent is :Movistar?)

On arrival my team and I thought we had got lost, as from the view from the road was quite shoddy, with an overgrown garden being the first thin you see. Inside it's a little better, but everything is dated. There was a lovely view from our balcony, however this again was overshadowed by the sight of a half empty moldy swimming pool. On the upside the hotel staff are lovely, drinks are rather cheap and the wifi is better than most places in spain. This hotel could be really nice especially for families in the summer, if money and work was put into it. However I am pleased that this was just a stop over for my team while on our way to Porto.

My partner and I have been visiting Don Hotel on and off for the last 20 years so I guess it has to be doing something right. For us the main attraction is that the hotel is within walking distance (20 minutes) of the centre of Cangas, it has good parking (we have bikes and canoes with us) and is very quiet at night. The rooms are small but adequate but are getting really tired and could do with updating. The pool is large and pleasant but in the summer their are often children's parties being held there. Do not bother with the breakfast as it's awful and served in the most depressing dining room imaginable (in the basement). It has an acceptable cafeteria for snacks and drinks but I have never seen anyone dining there. All in all the location is good but the rest could be much better.
