Parador de Salamanca

I stayed, with my wife, at the Parador in July. Overall our experience was good but could be better. On the plus side the location is good, a 15 minute walk into the old city (a comfortable walk for us in our seventies). We had a superior room which was spacious and comfortable. The area around the pool is nice for relaxing. We enjoyed a meal in the restaurant and overall the staff were friendly and helpful. The one exception is the cafeteria/bar where we consistently found the service to be slow and the staff unhelpful, bordering on unfriendly. I would recommend staying here but to avoid the cafeteria. The old city of Salamanca itself is a must visit.

Out of the town and in the heat we didnt bother walking. First impressions at reception there was no Welcome...Just a stern lady who just said 'PASSPORTS' to us in a rather demanding way. I tried to make conversation with her but she hardly acknowledged me. Not the best start but the room with a view of the cathedral was lovely and at night the lights were beautiful. No other issues just the 'welcome' wasn't there

This hotel is chic. Has its own style and very inviting. The hotel was extremely clean and tidy. Beautiful thick rugs on the corridor. Large double bedroom 107 overlooking the spectacular cathedral. The staff at reception, cafe and restaurant were all friendly, professional and knowlegable..thank you so much. The evening meal was amazing and delicious. The breakfast was perfect and included everything. Only thing I would suggest although we did arrive after a 6hour drive on the hottest day of the year 38degrees.. a complementary iced water on tap placed in the labby and bottle in the room free. We will return. It was a perfect location . Thank you. Would highly recommend.
