Hotel Gema Puerto

I stayed for the carnival week in February and cannot find fault with this lovely hotel. I am a woman holidaying alone and felt very cared for and supported by all the amazing staff, who chatted to me and offered great advice. I have never come across such friendly receptionists! The breakfast was just what you would want. My room was great with a fantastic shower and the roof terrace and pool looked great, although I never used them as I was busy out and about, enjoying the carnival, walking and taking buses to all the towns on the North coast of this pretty island.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff helped with all possible issues we had, about finding a transport to an airport or place to eat or extending our check out if it was possible. On the roof there was a small pool and sun chairs that were perfect for the days you just don't want to do anything. Hotel is located on easy walking distance on almost everything. Breakfast 6€ per person and we took it couple of times but the whole area is filled with lovely cafe's and restaurants where you can find lot more options. Only minus I can think of is that walls are thin and sometimes you can here clearly the next door neighbors. And if you are looking a quiet place to stay this is not the most quiet but not the noisiest one either. Normal city noises can be heard in the room.

I was very pleased with the hotel in general. The reception staff was very kind and helpful, the breakfast was good and the rooftop pool was also fine. One thing to highlight is that the hotel is located very nicely at the big plaza of Puerto de la cruz, with everything available within a few minutes of footwalk.
