When we are in Mounth Lavinia we always stay here.
Tinesh help us with al lot of things to arrange everything/solve small problems. This is a nice hotel. Sightseeing with beachview is amazing. Breakfast and dinner is excellent. Service by the swimming pool is good. All nice people and Tinesh thanks for all.

Is not my first time here in MLH.
Convenient and out of Colombo traffic.
Direct access to the private beach.
Safe place, professional and polite staff.
For me the best is Seafood restaurant directly on the beach. Nice atmosphere and fresh seafood.

Beautiful Mount Lavinia House is close to the beach in Mount Lavinia, far enough away from Colombo to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but near enough for a fun tuk tuk ride along Marine Drive and Galle Face Green into the metropolis.
The house is architecturally designed in the colonial style, built around a central atrium. Downstairs the floors are marble, (so cooling in the heat), and upstairs beautiful wood. There is a magnificent wooden staircase leading up from the ground floor. The bedrooms are large and airy with high ceilings with both fans and air conditioning, and are stylishly furnished.
The room on the top floor has day beds where you can relax and watch the sun go down, or watch the amazing electric storms out at sea.
The swimming pool is very welcome in the heat – and stretches from inside the building out into the beautiful, well-kept garden. It is lovely to relax, and float in the pool listening to the birds singing, and if you’re lucky and keep very still, watch a pair of kingfishers come and drink from the water. There are sunbeds provided for sun-worshippers, but also plenty of shady areas in which to relax.
The staff are delightful – always smiling and always on-hand if you need anything. The food I had there was delicious – pineapple curry – wow!
Mount Lavinia House is a two minute walk along a private path and across the railway track to the beautiful sandy beach, with its rollers and a large selection of beach restaurants. It’s a pleasant walk along the beach in one direction to Mount Lavinia Hotel, and if you walk in the other direction towards Colombo you will find yourself amongst traditional fishing boats, and early in the morning you can watch the fishermen unloading and haggling with the locals over their catch of the day.
The railway runs at the bottom of the garden, but after my first evening I didn’t even notice the trains rumbling by – and they certainly never disturbed my sleep. (And after all, wherever you stay along this coast the railway will always be close-by).
Mount Lavinia House is an oasis of peace, and rather than staying in a hotel/guest house, you feel you are staying in a much-loved family home – I can’t wait for my next visit!
