Omni Holiday Bungalow

We took room for two people with attached bathroom and price was also decent. Pros - Clean Rooms, supportive staff, good break fast, walking distance from mt lavina beach. Cons - Difficult to locate but the manager will guide you properly and will also come up to main road to take you there.

By chance I came across this unassuming but well kept bungalow just a stone's throw from the popular luxurious Mt Lavina Hotel. This gem of a hotel is hidden from view and only the local people around De Soysa Road may know this place. There are only 2 double rooms in this well-managed bungalow. My friend and I stayed only one night as we were on the last leg of our trip to Sri Lanka. I would have stayed longer if I could have managed to extend my trip. The stay comes with a full American breakfast and the caretaker, a genial and flexible old gentleman, has everything ready for the guests with out being asked. The bungalow makes one feel at home, especially in the early morning with greenery and birds chirping in the garden. The beach is less than 5 minute walk, and to one's excitement, one can see the commuter trains whizz past the beach area every 20 minutes or so.

We stayed for two weeks as we were attending a wedding at the Mount Lavinia Hotel which is around the corner. The room was spacious, with good storage, the mattress was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. Best of all was the house manager who was friendly, kind and kept the place in perfect order. It is right next to the beach with shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Central town can be reached by bus, train or rickshaw and drivers all know the way back to Mount Lavinia hotel. Good wifi and comfortable sofa too!
