Lagoon Paradise Beach Resort

Beautiful surroundings, awesome food

We stayed for 13 nights and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are spacious, the property is lovely, walking to breakfast every morning over the lagoon and listening to the sound of the surf is a wonderful way to start your day. Shane, the resort manager, took great care of our group and made sure our home away from home was a place we would return to. The restaurant breakfast buffet always had a large assortment of choices from omelets to order, fresh fruit, Sri Lankan foods and good coffee. Sudath always greeted us with a smile morning and evening. Drinks after a hard day were spent in what we dubbed the Treehouse. Cold Lion Beer was the drink of choice but the lime juice was fantastic and refreshing as well. Dinner choices were plentiful and delicious including a wood burning pizza oven. Lots of Sri Lankan choices, curries, Kottu, noodles etc. The pool area has been updated and is a great spot to read a book or jump in for a swim. The wifi has been updated so much better than in the past. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back next year!

So today I decided to spend the day by the pool at this hotel and paid my 1000rs for non guests which I am happy to do so and after ten minutes I went to the pool bar and got a bottle of water which the bar staff charged me 400rs for, which I thought was extortionate & hugely overpriced. A 15 sec walk from the pool bar is the shop where the girl in there sold me the same water for 130rs, when I complained to the hotel manager he said that the pool bar has to make as much money as possible and it was bar taxes that made it expensive which is the biggest load of rubbish, being curious I asked to see the pool bar menu ( see picture) and the cost of water is 350rs so who is ripping who off here? Obviously the hotel manager doesn’t know, or does he? So I was right I was ripped off, I am lucky enough to call Sri Lanka my second home, what this hotel has done I find absolutely disgusting and it gives Sri Lanka a bad name, if your a tourist coming to Sri Lanka just stay away from this hotel and your experience of this country will be amazing, stay here and you will have an extremely bad one.
