Lake Lodge is a truly beautiful, calm and welcoming base from which to explore the ancient sites around Dambulla. The bedrooms are large, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. The Lodge also has a really lovely, and well-sized swimming pool. We really appreciated this after our days exploring the area and especially after our morning climbing Sigirya rock. We enjoyed several breakfasts and evening meals at Lake Lodge. All were of a really high quality - absolutely delicious - and the staff that looked after us were very friendly and professional. Michel, the owner, lives on site and it was great to chat with him about the area and other parts of Sri Lanka. He runs a really lovely establishment and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

What an amazing start to our honeymoon! Lake Lodge is a truly special place. With only 12 rooms, it has a wonderfully intimate feel and you are made to feel at home from the moment you arrive. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They helped us exchange currency, arranged an amazing massage, and provided plenty of great recommendations for things to do in the area. Our room was fantastic, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver with temperatures around 35 degrees every day. Housekeeping was exceptional, with the room cleaned morning and evening, plus thoughtful touches such as snacks left for us to enjoy. The pool was immaculate throughout our stay. Somehow it was always crystal clear and free of debris, ready for a swim at any time. There was never a need to rush for a sunbed, and the staff would even put the parasol up for you. The food was outstanding. The chef is incredibly talented. We tried the traditional curry and the special dish on different evenings, and every meal was excellent. After an unforgettable elephant safari, we were too exhausted to take up the owner's kind offer to watch the PSG v Arsenal final, but it perfectly summed up the warm and personal hospitality we experienced throughout our stay. Every detail is carefully thought through at Lake Lodge. We had the best time and are already wondering whether we have peaked too soon on our honeymoon. Thank you so much for having us.
