Sorowwa Resort & Spa

My sister and I grew up in Sri Lanka, but left after secondary school to the United States, over a decade ago. Our mother still lives in Sri Lanka, so we wanted to visit her and do a trip around the island to see the places we never saw growing up. We stayed one night in Sorowwa resort in order to see the magnificent Sigiriya ruins - and I wish we could have stayed many more nights! The amenities were extremely clean and well-organized with lots of thoughtful touches. We had a beautiful view of the reservoir both from our room and the restaurant. The pool was spotless. People in the reviews who complain about insects obviously have no idea what a tropical climate is like, especially one next to an extremely fecund and fertile forest. There were no insects near the food at all. Above all, the service was amazing. When Gayan, the restaurant manager, saw how much we were enjoying the traditional Sri Lankan curries and breakfast foods (fresh, deliciously and carefully prepared) he spoke to the chef to make stringhoppers, roti, and katta sambol especially for us. The chef was so happy to see us enjoy the food and served us personally! Gayan took care of our every need with utmost friendliness and cheer. Also, the General Manager Chaminda made arrangements to have some medicine delivered from a nearby pharmacy because my mother was sick. Every single employee was highly professional and thoughtful. I loved staying there and will stay there again next time I visit.

As a part of our family trip on Sri Lanka we stayed 3 days at the Sorowwa Resort. We got a very nice room with a fantastic view over the water reservoir. We enjoyed our breakfast with a stunning wildlife view of birds, monkeys, elephants and even big monitor lizards. The breakfast as been one of the best on our monthly trip in south east Asia, with a variety of morning meals and fruit. The staff has been very friendly and, from management and down, interested in if we were ok and had a good night sleep. Everything was very clean and they even made the bed with towel folding and all.. (see pics..:) I highly recommend a stay at this resort.

We stayed for 4 nights due to The Central location we enjoyed the wildlife reserves to see the natural beauty of the countryside. The rooms were clean and tidy but average in quality. The view was spectacular to see each morning and evening which was our desire. Not impressed with the restaurant service and food They need to have insect control in the food and beverage areas
