There are not many hotels in Avesta to choose from. BW Nya Star is one of the few located in the city center. Housed in a part of a mall (Galleria) entrance is convenient facing the square.
Public spaces are huge. The interior style breathes the early 80-ies.
This hotel was probably built as a sort of conference facility. Not much people - and definitely no conferences - when we visited. It was very empty and the service facilities were run on a minimum. We asked when the large bar was open. The receptionist just laughed... Drinks can be bought at the reception from a couple of fridges with limited assortment.
Rooms are quite ok and the beds really comfy. One doesn't miss anything essential in the room, but a bit worn - as the whole hotel - it is.
Sometime in the past the bathroom had a glass door to the shower. Now it's a flimsy shower curtain...
AC not present.
Views are... non existent. You look out onto an inner roof.
Breakfast just fine. Staff nice and friendly.
Lots of free parking space at the the other side of the Galleria.
But you feel like you're maybe the only guest at the hotel. And we nearly were.
Prices fairly fair. Especially if you stay Fri-Sat.
For a night or two Nya Star is ok.
