Elite Hotel Marina Plaza

The second time we stayed at the hotel. Great and nicely located by the water and near the railway station. We stayed in a double room with sea views. Standard room size and mid-range feel. Nothing special. Good pillows and okay single beds that stupidly sat together and shared a mattress topper. This meant that when one person moved in bed, the other felt swells. Good room temperature and ac. The bathroom is ordinary and a little dated. Poor room for toiletries and only a hook to hang towels and clothes on. Good shower pressure but quite slippery bathtub. Very good breakfast with a varied selection. Minus for the hotel restaurant which is a Bishops arms. Greasy and reeking of big strong. A mediocre place that calls itself gastropub(!) but unfortunately lowers the rating for the hotel stay. The hotel was very nice. Good price for what you get.

Stayed one night in the junior suite. Shared balcony facing the city. Nice room with room for two adults and two children. Not fully updated TV and bathroom, but convenient. Bath with a little strange shower,but the kids liked to bathe. Breakfast was fine. A little slow refill. A lot of staff stood and talked to each other instead of seeing what had ended. Friendly staff at the reception. Very expensive for one night 5300kr.

I booked the Deluxe Double Sea View room for me and my orphan to get a little much needed mini vacation. We arrived at the hotel a little earlier than 3pm which was the check-in time and were met by very nice staff at the reception. Once up on the cleaned and nice room (419) we hear that there is some kind of music event on the other side of the harbor opposite the room where we live. We open and close the window and note that it is well insulated and it is not so much heard in the room, nice we thought. In the late afternoon we will head over to Denmark and return at 8.30pm and note that the volume has been significantly increased at the music event. We try to watch TV for a while which is impossible because of the volume of sound when we can not hear the sound from the TV. At 11.30pm we have not yet managed to fall asleep as the volume is so loud that you might think the concert is inside the room. This event we understand is called Bayside and has been advertised locally in Helsingborg and could not have escaped Elite Hotel Marina Plaza and we should have been informed of this and possibly offered rooms on the other side of the hotel. We paid almost 3000 SEK for the room and had been looking forward to a nice stay at the hotel after having a lot of bores on the private level but unfortunately this was dashed. Unfortunately we are very disappointed and go home without having got the much needed rest and calm that we so much needed which is very sad. Contacted after returning home the hotel and told us our experience and received a totally disengaged response from the Inhouse Sales Manager where she only briefly regretted what happened and told us that you can not influence local events. It is perfectly understandable but why not inform about this event when the room faces the harbor entrance so you would have had a chance to change to another room or cancel. Nor any compensation from the hotel so it was 3000 SEK in the lake. Before booking, check if there are local (music) events in the harbor so do not book rooms that way
