Scandic Gamla Stan

Loved the character of this hotel—it’s set in a beautiful historic building with unique rooms that have a lot of personality. Tiny old elevator charmed me every time I used it. My room was cozy and clean with simple amenities, no mini-fridge or coffee/tea in the room, no "extras" in the bathroom. Coffee and snacks available in the lobby for purchase. I skipped the hotel breakfast as it felt a bit pricey for my small appetite, and there were plenty of breakfast options nearby. The staff were super helpful and welcoming throughout my stay and even before when I left my suitcase in the hotel storage. Location is perfect - 15 min walk to Central Station (or one metro stop), tons of shops and cafes nearby, but in a quiet part of Old City. Keep in mind that Uber or Bolt do not go right to the hotel and can drop/meet you several blocks away so a metro which is practically across the street is the best transportation option. I recommend this place if you value character, location, and great hospitality over luxury room perks.

We had a lovely room which was clean and quiet. Comfy bed and small but good bathroom. But where were the shoe horn? All other Scandic Hotels I have stayed at have had a shoe horn?

This hotel is very well placed for walking to all the main sites, ferries and places beyond. It is an easy stroll to the main square, Royal Palace and Post Museum, for example. Our room was at the back. It was spacious and had a little fridge which was very welcome for storing drinks during the 30C heatwave experienced while we were there. It did not have air conditioning but we kept it cool by keeping the windows and curtains closed while we were out during the day and only opening at bedtime. A fan was provided but we did not use it.
